ahhh... so that is what real leadership is about

at least you were able to actually state that stevens was probably worse than campo tonight. All I've seen in other threads are excuses for stevens poor game, when in all reality he has been poor for most of the season (particularly skill wise)

We all have a go at Stevo, yet we give little credit to the man tagging him. Troy Selwood did a terrific job on Stevens.

Who was Campo's tagger after the first half? :?

But Campo is our vice captain..... he is the man that leads if God forbid Kouta is injured again,.... (Not Stevens)... stevens has no official leadership title at the club....

Stevens doesnt owe us anything... he should cos he plays for us.. but Carlton was not Stevens first choice of club...
Stevens was never protected by older more experienced Carlton players and won a premiership.. in fact he pissed one against the wall.
Campo was guided, nurtured, protected by the more senior Carlton players for the first 6 years of AFL existence.

i wont excuse the game Stevo had tonite and yes he got tagged really well as well so give credit to Selwood .... but i think that he is a player who could be a good leader i have seen him in the early rounds and last year talk at the huddles and try and rev the players up though its not his responability ... when have you seen Campo .. Whits rev players up .. Whits does it a bit .. ummm Kouta dosnt do it enough and Campo just bags everyone. So i reckon Stevens could make a good captain if he was gievn the responsibility .. But go for bid think of the reaction from Campo if Stevens was made Captain or VC ahead of him .. think of the dummy spits the mouthin off the Campo would give then lol

How's this? Campo = Soft c.o.c.k

End of conversation. I used to love him, now would love to see him playing for the filth or the scum!

Thats a cop out and you know it. 95+% of the people on this board talk up stevens leadership abilities and how he should be the next captain of the club (including yourself at times). Nice to see that our next great leader is going to be prone to disappearing and falling back into the herd. Stevens is a good player, but the lengths some of you guys go to protect golden boy from criticism is laughable.

Leadership and playing performance in general have nothing to do with the things you outlined above - what you posted was just another hypocritical cheap shot at campo. Also to correct you, being a member of the leadership group is an official title at the club - but even if it werent, I'd hate to think that real leaders could only lead when they are appointed flashy titles

Worst decision to make Campo VC instead of relishing the position and guiding the kids and giving somthing back to the club and the kids ... we have a cancer geting into our tram ... i reckon Stevo and few other players are sick of him as well i hope they strip him of the VC and if he complains send him into the Maggoos end of story

Maybe Stevens needs Campo to piss off for him to take the next step???

Hopefully we get to find out ...

Even if Stevens isnt the best leadership material.. at least he keeps his eyes on the play and not what his opponent is doing/ saying.

Hes been the better players of the two since he has joined this club anyway...

campo isn't performing the sort of role that the leaders in 95 gave him when he arrived as a skinny recruit! end of story!! his spoiled brat, it's all about me attitude is anti the carlton that i grew up with. you can't compare campo and stevens as though they've come through the ranks at carlton together.

4th Chicken do you watch the games ... have you ever seen Campo rev up the players inspire the kids ... encourage and guide the kids ... motivate the players in the quarter time huddles ... i used to see Stevo do this but i think at the moemnt he has given up .... pretty hard to do all that when your VC ala Soft cock campo keps being undisciplined ... mouths off gives away stupid frees ... calls for the balkl evne when in a bad position if i was stevo i prob be doin what he is doin bide my time until he is removed from the list ...
I will back Synbad on this one ..... the sooner Campo goes the better for the club at this POINT IN TIME .... be is creating more negatives on the field than he is doin anything positive.. And stunting the developement of not only the kids but prob sending a negative message to players like Stevo / T-bird ect

Boys, boys, boys...

Leave Campo to be the VC until the end of the year (or the start of next) and then reassess it. All decisions on playing personnel will be made first and in the cool light of day.

I think the reason id take it off Campo is to move into the next generation and just leave this chapter behind us and start again.

Lets face it we have a lean couple of years coming up.. and then in 3 years time we will come out bigger and better than before.

By that time the leadership core wont be here.

So we might as well make the changes to adjust now...

Lance to be traded because i doubt he will be even playing footy in 3/4 years time when were beggining to peak.

And get in as many early picks as possible to shore up the leadership/ talent stocks..

I do watch games but not live. However lets get this very clear - I'm not here to bag stevens or to protect campo. What I'm doing is highlighting the hyprocrisy that exists with posters on this board where certain players are bagged continually whereas others are largely exempt - often this happens irrespective of onfield performance. Campo is underperforming this season you wont get any arguement there. But stevens has been underperforming just as much this season. In fact, most of our players have been underperforming. It staggers me that most posters here actually think that only certain players should be criticised - whereas other players and coaching staff are untouchable.

In my own way, I'm encouraging people to be more rational and perhaps think about what they post a bit before they actually post. Aside from that I'm happy to support the club and all its players provided I see commitment and a positive attitude to things. It saddens me to say that I dont see that atm - neither from the administration, the coaching staff or the majority of the players.

i think its natural to criticise
a) the highest earners
b) the players who have been around the club the longest
c) leadership players captains vice captains.. deputy vice captains..etc

Setting the tone.. i talk about it every other post.

How would Campo go playing for a struggling Port in his second year there???
It takes a year or two to get into the swing of a new club.

Agree we need to get as many early picks as possible however I'd rather trade Houlihan before Lance. Lance at least has showed us what he is capable of doing in past two weeks unlike most of our other players that will never be able to produce what Lance can.

We need to improve our stocks so we can give him and Fev a chance to kick goals. One of the reasons Lance has struggled is that we have not given him any support, we lost Hamil and we have introduced limited talent into the side since 2000.

Yes he may have been slack on the training track but at the moment he giving his all and would be a very good player in a top side unlike about a dozen of our other players that could not get a kick with the Eagles.

I say adjust his contract at the end of the year, recruit smartly after all there are not many players in our side that you can base the future around so keep Lance.

We wont be much chop for a few years.
Lance wont be able to do it... in my opinion he wont keep form up for the season. He plays his couple of good games.
He knows he is on the chopping block and needs to perform for himself and his future.

Houla isnt worth tthat much.

They probably see Waite as a player who will step up to CHF.

I think Whitnall has run his dash at the club.

Agree the scrutiny is not just on Campo and other players can equally be at fault or play poor games but i guess i expect more from Campo and the club has rewarded him well ... he was mentored into the team by some pretty good senior players in the past. But now when we need him to stand up more play out his career in a positive fashion he is doin the opposite in my view and that is why i have had enough.

He should be mentoring our kids passing on his knowledge he prob at this stage of his career come out and say i want to give back to club and will play for less to help the club out and let them target another 1 or 2 gun players. He should be reving players up ....... i dont see any of this from someone who thinks he should be a leader of the club ... even as i stated before Whits at least trys to tell players where to go directs traffic.... Whits problems as we are all aware is his mental strength with regards to himself ie keeping fit doing the extra things ... training harder... not just in the pre season but he should be doing it constantly... Prob Kouta is another who should really lead by example and help the club out but i know he has to some degree takin a pay cut.. Good examples of this type of behaviour is the Lions with Voss and the senior players volunteering to get payed less to keep the team strong ... Great recent example with Hird who wants to play on but will take a cut and be a mentor in the transition. Why do i bring these guys up because they volunteer to do it they lead by example they send a good message. my biggest criticism of Campo is he sends the opposite message he gives out the effect it has on some of our other players on the list IE T-Bird / Waite / Walker ect.

Its in these times when we are at rock bottom we need players to show initiative and send a good message to the rest of the list lead by example. i accept if Campo has a bad game good game. I am critical of Stevos game today it was crap by his standards. a few Others also had shockers but my thread centers around the leadership and experience of Campo and this is what is hurting the Blues and setting a bad example to the the players / coach / supporters ect this what i am critical of with Campo .

As much as I adore Kouta and to me he willalways be a Carlton LEGEND I would love the club next year to give it to T-Bird and have Stevens (if he is still with us) and Waite as V.C's

I would not however be disappointed if either one of these three were handled the captaincy as I think they would all do stella jobs.

But for me its would be T-Bird

IIRC J.Brown taking a contested mark I think it was in third quarter where Thornton was i think distracted by Camporeale approaching Brown. The thing that caught my eye was Thornton giving it to Camporeale after Brown took the mark. The point Im trying to make is I sensed that maybe some of the players are sick of his sight on the ground. I hope im wrong but those group huddles that do these days seems a bit suger coated
What do u guys say?
