Selection tonight to drop livingston - a real look towards the future
Dont care if bulldogs have midget forward line why does he deserve on the last couple of weeks to get dropped - what message does it send to the guy - play well - others play worse but we will drop you
Why not at least have him on the interchange and if not match up in back line- how about seeing whether he can play in the forward line - what a radical thought - why not see whether he could be another avenue to goal - why not try to make him multi dimensional instead of just a dour defender ie someone you can swing to the forward line and pinch hit if we cant kick a goal or he is getting beaten
How can you justify leaving him out and leaving bowyer in if your looking to the future
What is plan b if thorton gets beaten or worse get injured
PS dont merge this with another thread we want a debate just on this issue - I dont usually get cross about selection but this is just ridiculous
Moreover to go into a game with a backline that has no one over 189 cms is just crazy - bandy et al will have a field day

He's not a good footballer why would we play him if we don't have to?

Because he has done nothing wrong.
Am absolutely baffled by the dropping of Livo.
And they brought in Chambers!
What has he done in the VFL in the past few weeks that warrants a guernsey in the 1s?!?!

Cant become a good footballer is your not given a chance to settle in a position. For half the season pagan has been talking about structure and the need to have livo/thornton playing together and now he drops one of them - way to build confidence in a bloke.

I'm with you Frank, I don't get it. I normally don't question selection, but this one makes no sense.

Is there a disciplinary thing behind the scenes that nobody knows about?

Who will he play on? Johnson? Eagleton?

He is only used to play on the bigger guys who no one else other than Thornton can handle physically. He does nothing offensively for the side infact the less disposals he gets the better.

Couldn't agree more frank. I made a similar point in the teams thread. Would the Dons drop Fletcher, the Cats Scarlett, Lions Michael or Leppitsch? Not f*cking likely!

I normally question the selections but I can see why we would drop Livo.

Rodney Eade will be sitting back working out how many talls he can dump into the forward line. Street in the ruck, Minson forward with Rawlings, Johnson and Faulkner snapping at their feet.

We're looming large for an absolute hiding here. Am very concerned :?

Agree completely...............Size imbalance ? I think Fletcher played on Farmer and carved him up........Teague hs been playing on blokes twice his size since he came to the place. The coach has contradicted himself bigtime here.

I think Pagan has murdered Teague this season by stupid mis-matches and I would have like to have seen him keep his spot to play on one of the dogs smaller forwards.
Gee you guys are shocked at Livo being dropped, how are you gonna react when he gets axed at the end of the year?

 Read it back and had a laugh myself. Livo is not a skid mark on those blokes. My point was that they would not be dropped if up a against a team of small forwards, just because there was no obvious match up. If form warrants, he deserves to play.

Teague has been murdered by playing on players much bigger. That said, he's really struggled lately.

At least one kid's back in. Now if only Simmo could get a good stretch and some game time to prove himself.

Can understand dropping of Teague - because I think he has been playing on borrowed time the last 2 weeks- his season has like scotland been ordinary this year but has been particularly poor the last 2 weeks where coach has tried to play him in the middle to run him into form
Just contrast this with dropping of livo
Having said that yes Teague has generally been crucified by playing on taller opponents since he got to carlton

Bugger.

Still, my point is that it ain't gunna be beyond the Doggies to outsize us down back. Given their midfield shits all over ours, I reckon we are in big trouble.

My faith is wavering at the moment :|

Teague deserved to be dropped to get some confidence, Livo didn't deserve it.

Chambers brought in cos we are struggling in the mid-field with Campo and Stevens both injured.
