A lot of conjecture about what to do with Lance.
Personally I hope we re sign him for a reasonable amount. I find it interesting that when Fev has an off day- it is constantly excused as bad delivery, but when Lance does it's cause he's fat and overpaid. I think that with a decent midfield both can be match winners and we should try to keep him unless we receive an offer similiar to Ottens/Thomson.ie 2 1st round picks.

I chose the third option with a view of if Big Red (I buy that sauce, too  ) gets traded to another club and we get say a first rounder for him, it will prolong his career, and we'll have 3 first rounders in the draft  .

If we can't get want we'd want for him, pay him circa 250K pa. on a 2 year contract.

Time for Lance (and a few other senior players) and Carlton to part ways and move on with the next phase in life. Both need a fresh start IMO.

If (big IF) Lance plays his footy like he has been the last two weeks for the rest of the season then I want him at Carlton next season.

BB - disregard the name of the position, Lance and Waite play two very different roles in the team. Waite is more like a true CHF, running up & dlown the ground as the marking/leading target. Whitnall is more dangerous closer to goal, as his agility and ground speed don't suit the true CHF role. He plays 30-40m out.

Its not too surpising that the perceived upswing in whitnalls performances have coincided with the availability of 2 key defenders down back. He was adequate in many of the other games earlier in the season but given the amount of time away from goals he kicked less goals

Should be re-signed but obviously at a reduced rate (no brainer).

Have we ever tried Lance at FF deep in the square, and Waite/Fevola at HFF recently?
Generally you can run off him at HF but a FF you need to be more careful, even against us.
He has the smarts in one on one and is deceptively quick over a few paces.
Also seems you can shepherd in the square without penalty.

If we have the 1st pick and Clarke is the number 1 talent in the land. Then if he wants out or isn't required the club should try to gain a pick to get the best young key defender in the country. Even a package deal if required to get the deal done, especially since Livingston isn't considered to be in our best 22.

Why would any kid not want to play for Carlton?

Thats like saying "look, thanks for the offer Elle Macpherson, but I'm happy rooting this peeled orange if its all the same to you"

Any player who decides he doesn't want to play for Carlton anymore SHOULD be traded/de-listed on grounds that they're a moron and incapable of appreciating perfection

Doesn't it come down too a calculated risk.

And what we do with Lance comes down too so many factors that years end will only tell:

1/ How well he plays from the decent opportunities presented too him.
2/ What money he is asking.
3/ What we are prepared too pay.
4/ What clubs are after him.
5/ What clubs are prepared too offer for him.
6/ The position we finish and potential players we pick accordingly.

If we get good picks in both natinal draft and PSD then we may be able too give the ball supply to keep him. If we don't then we may need to trade him too pick up someone.

Comes down too where we finish.

Pay him about $200 a year and go recruit a midfield that can deliver the ball to him and Fev.

Slow, past it, has done nothing in the last 4 years wont be doing anything in the next four.. turf him out for the best deal we can get and move on.
Lance wont be playing football in 4 years.
Not worth keeping..

Fev showed the difference between a first rate forard and a man well past it today.

Tada Lance!!!!
