What did you think about Malthouses coaching a month ago???
Whatabout next year and the year after that????

The propblem with coaches like Malthouse Pagan Sheedy Mathews is theyre onyl interested in winning games... but you need to develop a side .. and the only way to develop a side is early picks!!!

MAlthouse thinks Dane Swan is going to do it for you... its not going to happen for you either... dont think cos you won a couple of games youve turned the ship around.... you havent.
Its only a matter of time before your team is back like our team except you wont get a pick.. so youll go on and on before the gravity of the inevitable just sinks in.

Fancy a Collingwood supporter tellling us how to suck eggs!!!

No room for pride in todays football.. its set up that way...

Like the Kenny Rogers song goes..
You got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em
Know when to walk away and know when to run
You never count your money, when you're sittin' at the table
There'll be time enough for countin', when the dealin's done
Every gambler knows that the secret to survive is
Knowing what to throw away and knowing what to keep

I really shouldn't have expected any more than "Collingwood are shit" replies.

Good one.

OK, so because I barrack for a team that has only one 1 premiership in 47 years, I'm not allowed an opinion on anything else without it being turned back to that??

Fine. I didn't realise you were all so precious here. I'm going back to Warren.

Carry on....

Pagan did that last year and also got the Wizzer so that he could keep his

cheers have fun Mandy come seasons end

If this was a thread about Malthouse, I'd have a field day on what I think his strengths and weaknesses are. But it's not. It's about Pagan. I didn't start the thread, I didn't come in here to troll either.

Sorry if anyone thinks I did.

You shouldnt expect too much from most posters on this site - the coach and certain players are off limits when it comes to criticism it seems. Very few are calling for pagan's head - however, there are a growing number of people calling for more scrutiny to be placed on Pagan's performances as a coach. Its amazing how many people think that this is unacceptable

fair call that - had an interesting conversation with my father last night watching the game.

Pagan - does he deserve to be earning what he does as coach of carlton but also, if he wasnt there who else would we get?

IMO - i think Pagan is having just a bad a year as everyone else wearing the navy blue this year and it has me stuffed why he doesnt face the same scrutiny that the likes of campo, kouta etc.. get.

Rumour has it we are paying him 800k or so a season, if thats the case i dont think anyone here can argue that we are getting our monies worth. Certainly a coach can only do so much with certain stock, but @#$%&! me, droping Livo & Teague, and keeping players like Scotland, playing Campo, Stevens & Kouta which are all clearly carrying injuries and not giving kids a run when it is the prefect time i.e. rest kouta to give his knee some rest and bring in Russell as just one example.

Pagan and his coaching staff are having just as bad as a year as the playing staff yet excape any scrutiny and why that is ive got no idea. Britton was hammered from pillar to post for exactly the same type of performaces we are putting forth this season, and IMO Britton had alot mroe excuses than what Pagan has.

A coach should never make an excuse - it doesnt show faith on your playing list, even though that we dont have the best playing list in the compu, your coach should always show faith, at least in the public eye and never ever use and excuse as the reason for our dismall displays, but pagan the last few weeks has used nothing but excuses.

Do i want him out - no, but he certainly needs to be put under the microscope like every other player on our list that goes through the same scrutiny.

actually we had a lot less thrashings under brittain despite having a lot more injuries. Brittain was also a lot better at maintaining a positive 'vibe' - as opposed to the negative stuff that we continually get from Pagan/collo nowadays

I think Pagan thinks we have a team that can win games, even though most of out players are awful. So he brings in Bannisters and leaves out Russells. Either that, or he REALLY IS tanking.

I haven't read this whole thread, but if the basic message is to get rid of your coach I agree.

I watched the game last night and even I was frustrated. You have players out there that are quite capable of playing the game, and playing the game well, so the question needs to be asked why they're not.

Their attitude is F@%&#!. Their body language is disgusting. Aside from maybe Fev and Lance, not one single other player even looks like he's playing a "team" game. There's no encouragement for the younger kids when they do something good. There's not even any congratulations when a young guys kicks his first goal in the AFL!

If a team is not playing like a team, if they look so disinterested and play such an apathetic brand of footy, then that responsibility has to lie squarely with the coach.

Sure, Pagan can't go out there and play the game himself, but it's his job to make the players want to. And he's failing miserably in his role as senior coach of the Carlton football club.

Interesting post Mands. I've been pro-Pagan for the journey, but the last few weeks have shaken my confidence, I must say.

I'm just not sure what it's gunna take to reverse what we see on-field at the moment

C'mon fellas.
Ease up on the Mandy bashing.
She contributes to the site as much as anyone else here does.
And it's always good to have the opinion of an opposition supporter just to keep everything honest.

Nothing to apologise for Mandy. Shithouse form by those who played the 'Collingwood are shit' card.

Mandy offered an alternative opinion, and got shot down for it. For those of us who enjoy getting a different perspective on Carlton, it's a sad day when opposition supporters don't feel comfortable posting on the main board.

Come back Mands, some of us appreciate an opposition supporters perspective.

okay if Pagan really wanted to win he'd sack half the midfield and half those left. But he can't, not yet cos we need to lose.

Have a close look at Kouta - gets the ball (though not the last two weeks) but shit when the opposition gets it they automatically have a man free.

Campo - gets the ball but shit when the opposition.... Also how many times does he kick it to their advantage (especially nice little passes to their backmen).

Scotland - gets the ball (though not as much as campo or Kouta) but shit....

Stevens - used to get the ball but....

Lappin - gets the ball but wont pass it to Stevens or any of the kids.

Whits - gets the ball but can't kick for goal unless within 25.

Betts - can't get the ball but at least he can chase and tackle.

Bannister - ?????? (meaning not getting the ball anywhere near enough)

Sporn - ????????

Davies - ??????

Prenda - ??????

Now add in the habit the senior blokes have got of rarely ever handballing to a kid unless desperate (and even then they'll hang on to it and get pinged).

Add the backline - except for Carrots (God Bless him!) - hanging on so long the forwards have led themselves into the ground

A ruckman who can't win a hit out (but at least he gets the ball and can use it!)

And there is stuff all Pagan can do - just look at wallace's tigers - when you are shit you are shit. And we dear fellow bluebaggers, are about the shittiest side running around sicne the final days of the sad, sad royboys.

We are not a team, we are a collection of blokes who happen to be wearing the same jumper.

Is this Pagan's fault - yes, but the difference between me and Chicken4 is that i think pagan is doing it deliberately (much like he did in his first year) because he wants to offload or end or drastically reduce the expectations of Whits, Kouta and Campo and is probably considering the same for Fev Sporn, Livo, Scotland and a few others.

I think he will be harsh this year at the end and he is letting these blokes lose all sense of unity because he wants to totally rebuild with his draft picks in tact.

fair - probably not but bloody neccessary - we are shit shit shit. Now he could probably plaster over that and make us more competitive - shit might even eke out 2 more wins if he wanted them and we could end up wqith say 7 wins.

Does anybody want that?

I don't and I am the first to admit I hate the idea of tanking but right now I pray Pagan is tanking and does so for the rest of this season and maybe even next season (with the difference that next season he adds more kids into the mix).

Take out Fev and Walker and Carrots and T-Bird - who else from that crap dished out last night would get a game at another club if they had to pay them what we are paying them? None or maybe Bryan but only if he can play somewhere other than in the ruck. Can he? I'd at least like to see him tried at CHF and @#$%&! Lance off but not this year, we might win too many games.

See, see???? I do. I hate it. I do not even no if I will continue to follow it (already my enthusiasm is at an all time low) because I can see we need to lose as many games as possible this year and next (especially if the PP remains) or we may just become the next Fitzroy and end up playing out of the Sunshone coast.

Pagan is not coaching to win. He is giving players free rein to hang themselves. Oh except for a couple. He is coaching Walks, and Betts, and Carrots I reckon. I do not want some flower coming in and coaching us to 7 wins. Why???? What wil that achieve????

@#$%&! culture, our culture is a losing one just check out the last 4 years of it!

So it has come to this. It has come to tanking as a viable, smart and ultimately the only option left to this pus-riddled club. Some may not but I blame Ellitt totally - he left us diseased and without any insurance and stuck in an American health system! He is a pig of a man and he made a pig's arse of this great club!

And I hate that we must lose but lose we must and if Pagan wins more than 5 games then I'll be calling for his head cos then we are damned for another year or two more of this unending pile of shit we now call the football season!

I swapped my "Collingwood are shit" card for a Travis Cloke rookie card. He has braces in it, and a shithouse hair colour... that'll come back to haunt him!

By the way, last year I went to the trading card shop at Pipeworks and asked for an Andrew Walker rookie card... and he didn't know anything about them! how pov

Without meaning to quote from the book of Synbad, our problem is a lack of leadership. Our "older" players are not leaders, our middle tier players like Scotland are beginning to wonder if they have a place in the team, and our Nick Stevens looks disinterested. Plus Kouta's out of form, and young players will put-in but are less aware of the attitudes of the men around them.

This season = bad memory

Thanks danny. You just saved me the trouble of posting pretty much exactly the same thing.

We have to finish last this year, and maybe next year too. Knowing this makes it so, so hard to follow the football. I was out at a birthday party last night, got home and logged in hoping to find out we'd lost.

What a great system huh? But then, if we didn't trade away every top 40 draft pick since the mid-nineties for middle-aged hacks, then we wouldn't be in this position.

No-one's fault but our own.

We'll get out of it by playing the system to our advantage, just like we did in '86 when we whipped the chequebook out and got Sticks, Braddles, Motts and Dora.

But its not about maintaining a positive vibe around the club....
a positive vibe around the club would be playing darts in the social club if you allowed Brittain to allow the players to do what they liked for a positive vibe.
Brittain is a big part of the reason why this club is [REDACTED]!!!!
No weights...Bad player attitude and culture and thats one reason why Denis is struggling.

We have a bunch of softcocks leading our on field .

Plus which flower says Denis is on 800k????For those of you who think he is... hes on heaps less. he is actually on less next year than he is this year.

We can get a feel nice coach.... someone who would pamper the softcocks to win 7 or 8 wins...

.......... BUT... youll never get a flag out of any players touched by that coach....!!!!!!
Youd be a great also ran team... players feeling good about themselves but not mentally tough enough to win anything.

You think Mathews is any different with that Lions team to what Denis is????

Some of you need a reality check...

Yeah lets bring back Brittain... "What are you doing with the dumb bells .. you dont kick those around.. get out and kick a footy!!!"

He and Danny Frawley made Richmond feel good about themselves too....

Look where that got them???

Wheres Brittain coaching these days???

I bet they have a positive vibe...

Look if the coach asks them to work harder.. train harder and they get negative well HELLO STKILDA!!!!!!!!

thats what they always did... got rid of any coach that was too hard on them... the players would get together and say its us or him...

You have to smash that in players...

There is only one coach and then there is a list of players who do what theyre told...

The days where Parking gave them free will are GONE!!!!.. it killed us... were still paying for it....

Pagan needs to do 2 things. Get rid of softcocks who dont want to do what theyre told and are too mentally fragile to play in the big time because that would be a waste of time to hang on to them... (Everyone knows who i think that they are)

And... make sure we come last!!!!

Thats alot harder to do for a coach than you think.
