*He's had long enough to get the know the club; players; training requirements; what's expected.
*He's got better skills than at least the players in the senior side.
*He's quick.
*We need to get as many games as possible into our next (hopefully) generation.
*He seems to be the type of player who's not ready to dominate at this level but could step up quite quickly to AFL standard. It could bring out the best in him.
*But, most importantly, we need SOMETHING to look forward to ... a little ray of sunshine amid the gloom - cos November's a long way off. :)

PS: Throw in the Irishman as well.

Was good yesterday in the VFL Russell, I think he'll get a go before too long..

With Setanta, I'm leaning more towards letting him play the rest of the season in the VFL (he's on the rookie list anyway, we can't play him regardless). I just think that for someone like Setanta, playing potentially 13 more full VFL games (including finals, which seems likely) will benefit him more than 10 minutes here and 10 minutes there in the seniors. He might not like it and I wouldn't expect him to like it but I just think that Setanta has to play more games of footy. He's had a taste (albeit very brief) of senior footy and I think should just concentrate on helping the Bullants towards the flag in the VFL.

It's a bit of a non-issue though if he's on the rookie list anyway...

We cant play him, what if he was good and we won?

I reckon we must be trying to build our young players by playing them together in the bullants.

Totally agree with ya Kenny.

Give the blues supporters a look at this kid. By all reports he looks good in the vfl. Give us something to look forward to in this shocker of a season.

Although Denis might hesitate at playing Russell and Simpson in the same team. Both being so small and all.

I agree that they're purposefully being kept back. And I think it makes good sense. Helps our seniors lose and helps our kids learn each others' games in a winning culture under an excellent young development coach in Mitchell.

Of course you can play Setanta... Deluca has a long term injury.
Setanta should play the rest of the season in the firsts if possible... same with Jordan and Blackwell should play a few and id even play Raso when the schoolkids are done.

no way Synbad I reackon we'd be a chase to win a few with them. Play this side... this side isn't going to win anything.

@#$%&! I hate all this, its just too weird.

Think I might have a wonderful garden this spring - oh hang on that makes me a terrible supporter, best go along and carve another piece out of my heart, its the catholic in me and all that, anyone seen my hair shirt? Anyone got a little whip, a cat o'nine tails or some such i can borrow? 'Please guvna can I 'ave so,e more lashins and floggins and piss poor efforts?'

We are the navy blues
we are the old dark, @#$%&! black, @#$%&! lights have gone out, navy blues

we're the team that lets you down but you go along anyway cos you remember a different time and place and sense of football

we're the only team from Telstra Dome (except for them others) and the MCG (except for the others there too including Collingwood who are more there than we are cos we were not allowed to be so there - and the Prez reckons its cos we are gutless and Surrey just rolls his eyes like this  at the board and any discussion about why we moved.

with all the champions- yeah right. Like um you know all them b to z graders Collo was going on about.

and so on and so forth...

gee i love a good game of football -

I'm with verbs just give me a game, I go all squizzy inside when I see that jumper - even if that jumper doesn't chase or tackle, can't hit the side of the barn, can't get the ball to hit the side of the barn and doesn't seem to care too much anyway.

Still its Carlton and the world is fine - hey The Tao of football supporting - 'I'm in the moment, I'm in the moment - Go Blu.... Oh there goes the moment..'

heck another moment will be along any minute now.... .tick......tick...... tick...... tick...... tick......

'shit eh 67 points, not bad, could be worse, @#$%&! it was great to see the lads run out through the banner tonight - hey how about the way Stevens refuses to run through the banner - great stuff eh! and that simmo, shit his hair looked different tonight and where was wiggo anyways?

yep Football TAO! the moment - like um, well Like the way Denis came down the stairs at three quarter time, or the runner, did you see our runner, and, and shit that was a good handball, oh yeah I know it missed our lad, but he hit the ball really well...clenched his fist an all....

Even the beer tastes like shit but hell the lads are playing, playing like shit, but playing and I think I am going mad but I will continue to go and watch them cos I am the best goddamn supporter in the world and Carlton needs me right now, no really, I think I might even pull a jumper on.

Couldn't do any harm could it?

@#$%&! the future it's all about the now - zazen and all that....shit them clouds look good, course then the AFL closes the roof but hell at least the toilets don't stink like they did at Princes park - remember them toilets?

Remember those days...

Shit I even remember winning some games back then - arh that's just being nostalgic... Look at the way our boys do laps, gee they do good laps....

we are the navy blues
we are the old dark...

Go on you know you want to sing along with me...hey why is this jackey on back the front?

can't we at least have a siren going? It'd be like being at the football again...I remember the football.... carlton...I barrack for Carlton...why the strange looks guys...

hey where are you taking me anyways?

Shit cool room, I can take speckies in here all day long and not hurt myself - reckon houla would like this room....

I remember

I remember everything!

...teddy bears have their picnic...

We come from very different places. I had to fight...tooth and nail...when I was a kid to see The Blues. I would cry tears of anger, frustration, despair, when I was denied the opportunity because neither of my parents can stand football.

I paid for my own membership when I was 14.

I would hide under the covers with a radio pressed to my ear capturing a wavering signal of 3AW call....just for upates on a preseason game.

I have lost count of how many woeful performances have occurred over the years. BIG DEAL!!! That's footy. If you can't stand the heat, get out of the blooy kitchen.

If you don't like supporting The Blues...find something else to do...but don't...DO NOT... @#$%&! try and make me feel inferior for my undying love for The Blues.
