Last five years is too early to determine the players they will become, how about the five years before that (1995-1999 drafts).

pick 1.
Clive Waterhouse

Travis Johnstone
Des Headland
Josh Fraser

pick 8.
Jared Crouch
Leigh Brockman
Chris Tarrant
Jude Bolton
Joel Corey

C'mon Synbad, where are you?

I Asked for the last five years when clubs got a grip of what is going on with the draft.

Dont shirk it just put them up.

Who the hell is Brockman???

What youre telling me is if you had a number 1 pick youd swap it for a number 8 cos it dont make a difference???

Yeah sureeeee you would.....

 Synbad, the master of putting words in other people's mouths.

You know what I am saying.

The difference between pick 1 and pick 8 is not as big as you make it out to be.

I say if we use our first and second round picks to draft and develop kids we will suceed. You say we need a PP or we will never succeed.

What does "not as big difference" actually mean???
Of course there is a huge difference.
Jarusa get out there next week. The state carnival is on.

Tell me if a number 1 is not a standout and is pretty even with whoever you think will go around 8.

Thats a ridiculous statement.

If youve ever watched the TAC and kids youd really understand how daft that comment is. (Not having a go but you leave me no choice).

I should also add that a number 1 AND a number 2 or 3.. is much much much much much better for us right now than a number 8.

What youre saying is drafting Russell is just as beneficial to the club than taking Deledio and Roughead.. Or Tambling and Franklin... or Franklin and Griffin.. Or any combination of the above.
Its flower laughable...

Doesn't matter which pick becomes the best, the fact is having the top pick means you can choose any kid in the country bar father/son rule. We've never been able to do this.

I am saying there is not as big a difference between 1 and 8 as you make out.

Do I have to repeat myself another 10 times?

Or will your delusions produce another repetitive post that mirrors what the voices in your head are telling you what other people think.

And im telling you Jarusa that that pick does make as much difference as i think... and especially when you add another top 3 pick.

Nah mate the voices are in your head cos youre clueless.
Im not going to agree with one of the most clueless statements made on TC ever!!!!

I just love pick 5, dunno why but pick 5 does it for me.

ODE TO PICK 5

You can take your pick ones
and shove up your bums
pick twos
give me the poos
pick threes
are for the trees
and I show pick fours
the exit doors
but pick 5's, oh pick fives
they remind me of when I've been away
and I come back home
and my brothers give me high fives!

alas poor yorrick
picked at 1
buried at 11!

I think drafting has become more of a science and less of a lottery and with the top picks has more certainty about it...
Deledio, Roughead, Tambling, Griffen, Franklin...were identified as being the best long before draft day...ditto to Ball, Judd, Hodge.....Rewioldt, Kosi, Didak....Wells, Goddard......Cooney, Walker, Sylvia etc
The recruiters/afl/media just put more work into it as even do the forum arm chair recruiters.....its hard to stuff up if you have early picks as the last 3-5 years have shown...
Synbad does have a valid point about getting the early picks and having more certainity about what we are picking....Joel Corey wasnt on everyones top players list and was just good recruiting, like Coughlan was at 25, Enright at 44 etc etc....we need to cut down the odds with our recruiting...

2001
1. Hodge
2. Ball
3. Judd
4. Polak
5. Clarke
......
6. Sampi
7. Hale
8. Bartel
9. Molan
10. Power

First 5 easily better than the next five.........while Bartel is a good player, he isn't up to the standard of the top 3

2002
1. Goddard
2. Wells
3. Brennan
4. Walsh
5. McVeigh
........
6. Salopek
7. Mackie
8. Brennan
9. Mcintosh
10. Laycock

Top five have once again performed better than the next 5. You compare Wells with Mackie and there is a massive difference

2003
1. Cooney
2. Walker
3. Sylvia
4. Ray
5. Mclean
.....
6. Bradley
7. Tenace
8. Clarke
9. Trotter
10. Dunn

Top 6 are much more talented and have performed better than the next 4.

2004
1. Deledio
2. Roughead
3. Griffen
4. Tambling
5. Franklin
........
6. Williams
7. Lewis
8. Meesen
9. Russell
10. Egan

Lewis has played well but does he have much scope for improvement? The others have played a few games or are yet to debut.
