IIRC, Hawks v Richmond last year was nikc-named the Deledio Cup.

Could be the ugliest match in living history.

Maybe the background music for the telecast should be "Hot Potato" by the Wiggles

Hawthorn v Carlton

Gonna be a great day, both groups of supporters wanting thier team to lose.

Think I will go watch lawn bowls instead.

actually we could be dealing with a sort of Macbeth versus Hamlet with a pinch of Midsummer's tossed in for good measure. Finally I understand Shakespeare - he was writing about draft picks and P.P.'s!

I'll be there at the new cauldron dressed in black with a skull in my pocket waving a dead trout in place of a cod piece!

If it was played tomorrow, we would win.

Not so sure....the Hawks good players are still playing well ie Everitt, Mitchell, Crawford....they also have the leading goalkicker in Williams...were pretty shite at the moment with some of our good players like Stevens not getting enough of the footy.
I'll be interested to see who runs out on the day for each club....if Everitt suddenly gets an injury you will have trouble convincing me what Hawthorns intentions are......likewise if we rock up without Fev or Stevens and add some newbies like Russell its going to be a sham game where loser takes all...

By the start of the Hawks game the players confidence will be at an all time low, so I can't see them getting up. Carlton do have the forwards who can kick a score the Hawks couldn't beat. But I just can't see our midfield eclipsing the Hawks' midfield and creating enough chances for us to win.

I'm gonna go, it will be hilarious Hawthorn fans cheering when Carlton get a goal and vice versa- it's reverse footy. lot of rushed behinds that night. the losers will sing th eopposition teams song after the game with worst on ground in th emiddle. Cant wait! Big stakes, and small french fry potatoes.

I'm imagining lots of rushed behinds.

Just on the Mitch Clarke Cup. Would Hawthorn take him given they went tall in the last draft? Am I right there are a couple of midfielders in that top bracket also. Is he far away the best pick for them to take him?

I think we're better than Hawthorn, I really do..

Hawthorn has had its better players playing well nearly all season, Mitchell, Crawford, Everitt and Williams is the comp's leading goalscorer.

Carlton's better players haven't been performing for much of the season at least to the levels to which we know that they are capable.

i'm still not on the PP banndwagon, but can see that yes we do need it and it the long term it's the "best" thing for the club. but i'm loathe to get another spoon!

i still think we will win 2 or more games this year, not sure which ones, but i just cant see us not winning from here. surley something will go right, or another team will have a bad one.

it's like the footy gods got 04 and 05 consfused and had them arse about.

3 wins in 04, 4 wins in 04, ?.5 wins in 04 and 10 wins in 05 sounds more logcial to me.

owell just goes to show what a false dawn last year and the band of second hand players have seemed to be.

There's a good couple of points right there. Hawthorn have actually been able to put together a full 4-quarters of footy (in a single game just to clarify!!!) this season, we haven't even come close.....if we had, I reckon you could've chalked in wins against Collingwood, Port Adelaide, Sydney, Adelaide & the Kangaroos.

I don't know if Hawthorn can 'afford' to have a year as bad or worse than 2004 - their membership is already suffering and so are the incoming $$$ into the club, big time. They still seem to show a ray of on field hope every so often, we might show but a glimmer every once in a while. I'd be surprised if they don't manage the 5.5 wins and we do.....

Hilarious to see that not even Beaumont can crack it for a game with Hawthorn at the moment.....

Haven't read all posts in this thread, so may be repeating others' sentiments, but given most Carlton supporters are admiring a priority pick, I kind of wish that we hadn't run over Hawthorn in the final quarter earlier in the year.
If we'd lost, we'd be 1.5 wins with 9 games to go, facing West Coast @ Subi, and St Kilda @ Telstra, and almost a monty for 2 of the first 4 picks.
Also, Hawthorn would have 4 wins, and just 2 victories from squandering a PP, with Carlton still to play.
If only.
Anyway, when we play poorly and struggle, I just imagine an athletic 6' 6" CHF going by the name of Mitchell Clark and all the pain goes away - so long as he's wearing Navy Blue.
