More agony, warns Collins

Quote:
Collins yesterday pledged the Blues would target off-contract big-name players in the lead-up to the 2005 national draft, but warned quick-fixes to the on-field woes were impossible.

"We are working to a plan, we reckon we are three years off it (making the top eight)," Collins told the Herald Sun yesterday.

Once again TC is a day ahead of the papers. Thanks for the scoop KH!

Bookie, didn't you know that Brisbane players are off limits for the market due to their salary cap advantages. No required Brisbane player will ever be poached while they have that salary cap differential.

Oh. that is right ...it is being reduced at the rate of $10,000 a year or something similar.

Good to see Ian Collins telling it like it is, fair bit of pressure on players to do the team thing and sign for less money these days and put premierships over money....not surprised that dal Santo re signed...would expect Power to do the same..

Good call from Mick over Haselby...Freo are a bit of mess and there could be a few players who could take the bait and leave...

Hasleby is a WA boy though...

I'd love him...at his best he's like Ratten was, got the ball and tackled hard and had good disposal. Not lightning quick but if there's two players who'd help us immensely it'd be Koschitzke and Hasleby.

Haselby would be a tough get being a WA boy and from memory he was another who didnt want to leave WA when he was drafted but Freo are in a mess and you dont know if you dont ask.....reading between the lines in what Collo said in that Herald Sun article I think we might going very hard at decent uncontracted players...I think he sees this as the only other way to improve the list and quickly with U18 drafting being a waiting game and the wait being a long one....

I reckon Collo will be playing very hard ball with some of our senior players looking for new contracts as he will want that extra dough to throw at these uncontracted players...

If it was the old Regime we would be chasing Rocca (Sav not Anthony) - His record speaks for itself - over 700 goals - out of contract at the end of the year- sign him up for a three year deal

Collins said the Blues would not abandon coach Denis Pagan's recycled player policies.

You are a beacon of optimism

Do you get any pleasure in bagging the club and Denis at every opportunity?

What are Ablett and Lockett doing ... Lockett even has an end named after him at the Dome, that's gotta be good right. Quick sign them up before someone else thinks of it, better give them a 5 year deal.

:?

You should go back and read Clause 26 a of the Carlton Supporters Manual . It clearly states that when you are coming last you bag the coach. :D

That's Richmond Sydney.

Anyhow, Hasleby would be a recycled player, Nick Stevens is a recycled player, Koschitzke would be a recycled player...

Does anyone know if polak from freo is contracted for next year? He would fit in nicely at C.H.B

His contracted but on the Sunday paper in the West they reckon The Dockers should trade him. I think he would be a asset for Carlton his only 21 and 193cm

In all seriousness, I would chase D.White and S.Salopek from Port.
Unsure if they are currently injured but neither are getting a look in and might even come at a decent price.

What do you like most about these two Surrey?
What aspects of their game?
