Well one thing for sure the discussion shows that all of us here on TC are passionate and commited to the long term well being of the Best football club in the history of the AFL / VFL

As mentioned it is a fact Pagan has been signed for 3 years people just get over it he is not going to be sacked in the short term / Paid out ..
i would assume that he and the board have a longterm plan and i hope thats the case if they dont then yes we will be in big trouble.

Fact i havnt seen Pagan openly chastise any player single out a player and lay blame he has commented on how the team has used the ball (Hacked the ball i think was an expression) Commented on the use of the ball.
Yes he has lamented on the lack of Drafts but that is a fact to on paper ie what the team is made up on in Draft selections is vastly behind any other club in the AFL by a long way. And there is no hiding from this fact on Paper the team is well below any list in the compettion.

I dont think in the last 6 matches the players have been united yes i think behind closed doors some of the senior and recycled players have had there nose put out of joint. Ie that they may have been told they are getting pay cuts or that they are competing with other players to retain there spot in the team. I am sure some of that may have fed down the line with senior or recycled players being told that they are now playing for the chance to continue to play AFL football in 2006 why do i say AFL football because i reckon most who get chopped will not get another oppertunity anywhere else as they are just not good enough.

I think that between rounds 8 and 18 will and has been purely a chance for Pagan to work out who in the recycled players will be on the list in 2006 any not played in round 19 will prob not be at the club in 2006 bar injury of course - (Still think this is part of a long term plan to restructure the team)
I also think our most matured kids in the Bullants will get some game time in round 19 - 22 just to give them a taste of the seniors and will be played where the recycled players who have been chopped will no longer be in the team in 2006

I don't see how our list is really any worse than Collingwood's or Hawthorn's list.

Collingwood have a very good defence (Prestigiacomo, Wakelin, Clement)

They have a great leader

Saying that there isn't a huge difference, but they do have an advantage in terms of defenders and leadership

Sorry will clarify for you Blues2005 on paper as in the quanlity of draft selections and where players where picked on our list is way worse than other clubs ... not saying that we dont have some diamonds in the rough but we lack any of those star like players which most teams have some of in there side. Maybe Kouta in his prime ... but not much after that though we do i believe have some really exciting emerging talent IE Waity / Walker ect.

This is the make up of the Blues (Blues2005)
a sumary list though i can give you exact details if you want compare with any team in the compettion and you will find on paper we arer way behind other teams

Summary of the Blues list as of 2005 from where players were originally picked / drafted when they first played.
Picks 1-5 = 2
Picks 6-10 = 1
Picks 11-20 = 4
Picks 21-30 = 4
Picks 31-40 = 3
Picks 41-50 = 3
Picks 51-70 = 1
Picks 71+ = 7
Rookie Elevations = 8
PSD New player = 1 (Betts)
F/s = 4 (Includes the F/s Selection cats gave to Clarke)
Zone = 1

Zone is pre 1995 Draft when we clubs recruited from selcted zones IE the Blues drafted Kouta through Zone selection and he is the last player on our list who was recruited under zone selection.

None of this worries me at all. I'm looking forward to the game against the Eagles. Bring on the footy!!!

I'm looking forward to the games ahead...the time from the last game of the season to the first game of the next season is a long and lonley stretch.

Just the fact the Blues are playing is what's important.

The tough times never stay for long. They're here for now but won't be around forever.

GO BLUES!!!

This is indeed the problem we have.

Pagan is right to say that some players are not up to afl standard.

whether that translates to him staying at the club for the full extent of his term is another matter though. It may be that he runs his full term, but it is also a strong possibility that he leaves before the end of his term.

The draft picks this year combined with new players coming through will help us, but this 'help' will be only to allow us to become more competitive with other clubs, and not to get to a stage where we are anything like the strong Carlton teams of past decades.

Perhaps it might be a bit odd to some, but this may not matter as much in the more even teams of the afl future than it has in the past.

Once we remedy or even partially remedy our current ills, I do think that we are in a stage where there is a rather dramatic evening of the competition - the talent is being shared around more now than in the past and out of necessity, we are just doing a bit of a catch up at the moment.

I think that a time will soon come when a team is on the bottom of the ladder but only by percentage with say 20 points at round 10, with 5 other teams also on 20 points and the top team is on 32 points, that is 3 games between top and bottom after 10 rounds of footy.

Maybe Carlton is sitting with 22 or 24 points at round 10 in this future year, our of the eight by percentage only - and really not a lot of percentage at all.

It is in this environment, much to the displeasure of other supporters, that a great deal of luck comes Carltons way...
