You Bloody Beauty!
:D :D :D :D
Saw his first unforgettable game, and just know he will be a long time champion of the club.

That's one small step ......

I'm pretty sure that there isn't a blues supporter out there who doesn't like Andrew, DOA.

I think that some people (myself included) are quick to judge and find excuses when we are consistently getting pounded week-in week-out.

It really is great to have 1AW on our list - one of the few young kids who has so much potential. And it is fantastic that he loves the club as much as we do.

Let him know that he has many fans.

Aw, tits, ya bring a tear to my eye :P

He's playing on the oppositions most dangerous mid-fielders so he learning from the best. I think Denis is doing Andrew a great service and in time the roles will be reversed. Hope he gets Judd this week.

Fantastic news! Really wrapped to hear that about the great man! Some people are way too harsh on him because they refuse to be patient or use their brains.

At least this thread shows that theres a lot that aren't like that!

Agreed Beantown

These days, run with roles on star midfielders have been the launching pads for a lot of elite midfielders. Ling and Kirk come to mind. And Ratten cut his teeth as a small defender.

Giving 1AW responsibility for one player who roams all over the ground oddly enough gives him more freedom. He knows he has a clearcut defensive job to do, but on the rebound he is more likely to be given freedom than if he attracted a tagger as a potential midfield playmaker. The best example of that was when he played on Aker and responded to Aker's goal by kicking his own within a minute.

It also takes the pressure off him. As a forward or a loose midfielder, he will be judged on how many goals he creates. As a young player, it is natural that he will get lost or go missing for periods, and so he will often fail in his task as he gains experience. But as a run with player on a star, curbing his opponent's contribution will constitute success. Hurting the opposition on the rebound will just be icing on the cake.

More importantly, it appears that 1AW looks at this role as being an opportunity learn rather than a punishment.

Thanks for the great news DOA. As you know we are a club that has known much success in the past and through faults of just a few have been kept down a little longer. That is why when we do rise up it will be all the sweeter. It is great that AW is going to be a part of it. We cherish his development and all the other younger guys at the club. Not all will make it, but it is obvious that AW will. All the best!! We will celebrate one day!

Fantastic News DOA ...........

I just love watching Andrew play and I wish that Dennis would let him play his natural running game as he has natural running ability and a huge talent .........

He will one day be the superstar we all know he will be :) ...........
Maybe sooner than we think

He should not be restricted as a tagger even though he had sensational games against McLeod & Akerermanis.

Way to go Andrew ......... stick with the best and you will reap the rewards

Thanks for sharing DOA - you might have noticed there hasn't been very much in the way of good news lately. :D

Here's hoping there is no DAC lurking.

awesome news

reckon tex is going to be a champ.

the best part about him - he doesnt give a stuff. Doesnt care who he is on he wants to beat em, and i love it.

today he is tagging, tommorrow he will be tagged.

Will be a champ for us and good to see the quality the young man has in showing loyalty - reckon we have something special on our hands.

And his games in the last few weeks have been a highlight in an otherwise dark time.

welcome aboard DOA - there is no escaping now

Looking back at DOA's previous posts is a bit of a hoot. So many dropped hints but nobody noticed!

Nice to see your words in print again, DOA - I feel priviliged to have someone so close to a player on board.

I was never really worried about Walker leaving. He looks like someone who feels he belongs at carlton. I reckon he is finding his feet atm as a run with player. With the poor state of our midfield he wasnt ready to play as a key midfielder ala Mclean or cooney.

Indeed buzz, and has also showed up the senior players about accountability in the process.
