Why would Denis want such a poor leader and a cancer on the Carlton Football Club to stay on for ANY price?

We have been told on this forum that he has a detrimental effect on the club and that Simpson could easily play this role.

Why keep him?

Can someone fill me in???

It's all very confussing??? :?

Simple do not believe what is written on this foruem

Fact is Dennis values Campo as he can play and wouldn't have him as VC if he didn't show leadership, I suspect Campo might just do the things out of public gaze that make a leader.

Here is a question ot two for the Campo haters. Has Campo ever done anything off the field to bring the club into disrepute, ever?

Has anyone ever heard any other player say a bad word about Campo publicy or privately? Or the MC comittee for that matter. The only time I heard any crititism by Dennis was when he got himself reported for reteliating against Brodie Hollands illegal scragging earlier this season.

I'm not a Campo hater but what are we doing with him?...one or two year deal?...whats the point ?..will he be part of our next premiership team.
What motivation does the player himself have to perform with a cut down contract and no real goals to achieve other than self survival or retirement planning.
Would he better at Stkilda with his mate Hamill and maybe playing finals with some hope of a flag..what can we offer him and what can he offer us that will motivate him to perform at his best?

Just because a player will not be part of the next premiership team, do we get rid of him? Jeez you would be turning over players at a great rate if you do. Kouta won't part of the next Premiership team do we off load him as well, how about Lappo?

The players who will be, hopefully, be part of the next Premiership team (read under 25) still need to learn how to play and that is why you need experienced senior players around. How else are they going to learn?

PS. Campo will get a two year deal.

all around it was a very good listen....
some of his comments got me wondering if he reads here...he made reference to one of the under 18 players being like earl spalding...just as someone did the other day...the host also says that he has been browsing the carlton "chatrooms" i wasnt aware that there were any chatrooms so he must ave meant forums...

BM,

I reckon campo is a pretty good midfielder entering the end of his career.
Are you happy this year with his output considering that he is costing us $650,000??

Well that's outrageous! So Campo's been on $650k for the last 4 years?

BM...appreciate you need some experienced players to teach and work with the youngsters but I would suggest good list management is about letting go some senior players with no future at the right time so you can keep the list balanced and motivated.....

Also..on the teaching side of things I would suggest that some of our youngsters have not exactly progressed at a great rate of knots and that that what guidance/teaching they have been getting from the older players hasnt exactly equated to much...

Hiya Rhys26, Have heard the 650 00 figure being bandied around a lot this season, also that he has been on a backended contract etc etc. If this is true then he has been on very little in previous years and is getting paid for previous service this year. Also if you believe some of the figures that get quoted as fact on here then 4 players are taking up nearly half our salary cap. Three, Campo Whits and Kouta a third. The figures simply do not add up. (One alledgely knowledgable insider was trying to tell me a few weeks ago that Kouta is on a Million this year and no it wasn't Synbad.) Personally I reckon and I have no proof, that you could easily take 150 000 off the qouted figure Campo is getting. I base this on two factors. One is that the 600 000 plus figure has only ever appeared in a three year old newspaper article, that actually discussed contracts. The second is the Collo publicly stated that he got his required 25% pay cut a couple of years ago by extending the Big Threes contracts for an extra year for the same amount that was originally agreed to in the shorter contracts.

I wish you guys would stop arguing over Camporeale and get back to reporting what Denis said  That's far more interesting.

personally, campos form has gone down hill since they realised he was a fantastic player...i remember when i was 10-11y.o my dads mate said to me "i feel sorry for him...he's a star but they just tag him with their best players every week..." and from then on i dont think he has recovered...as many say he is a downhill skier...i just hope he doesnt fall off a cliff towards the end of his run...

campo has been shithouse ever since Ratten left, Campo doesn't have anyone getting the ball under a pack and fires a handball straight to him.
