gee this thread is funny.
all these melbourne based carlton supporters are bleating cause the game wont be on a one hour delay at home any more, but instead will be on live in 90% of watering holes in melbourne LIVE.
so now to watch the game they will either A have to go to a Pub or B actually go to THE game!
gee you poor bastards.
doesnt worry me because i'm in Canberra and already KNOW i'll be AT THE GAME!
guys it's time to realise that this isnt the VFL anymore, and we are not a sucessful club anymore and non carlton supporters dont give hoot about us!
Ten has made the correct choice, and Scotty why would Ten Televise two games in one night? first of all i'm pretty sure they only have the right to one game while fox gets the other and they cant double dip and televise one in one state and one in another, becaus eits going to harm Fox's ratings and they would want to anyway as they have the extra expense of covering two games. makes no sence
a little short sighted there gerry. this isnt about interstate viewers v melbourne viewers.
i would imagine that both clubs - carlton and collingwood would have agreed in principals for their sponsors to have a certain amount of FTA coverage and i dont think it too unreasonably of them to consider a carlton v collingwood as almost guarantee that it would be shown on FTA.
so the decision made by channel 10 not to show a game, which would otherwise be shown normally you would think, could possibly cost both clubs money in sponsorship revenue.
and another thing - and i know this will shit alot of you - but melbourne is still the centre of the AFL - you may not want to admit it, but Carlton, Collingwood, Essendon* and Richmond are the clubs that have floated this competition for a long long time and it will continue to do so.
harping on about the fact that its a national competition is fine but it is those 4 clubs that generate the most support.
