Is the Pope a polar bear??? Well, I suppose, REALLY, he's not. But I will renew. The Blues need us more than ever. Can't jump now.

thats like jumping off Elle Macpherson, saying "sorry love, I've got a bus to Sunshine to catch"

I imagine one problem, though, is people who downgrade their membership after a bad season... so people who have social gold, lets say, but lose a bit of interest in going and buy an adult 11 instead.

Yep.

It frustrates me that people would fail to renew their membership simply because the team is not performing. I know to some that may seem daft, but memberships are the lifeblood of any football club, and for me it is unconditional.

the clubs finals will begin in the September October period with attempting to get uncontracted players to the club.
It will continue through the National and Pre Season drafts and the publicity machine will then have to be in full swing...
By round one we will all have re newed hope for another season.
Thats the nature of the beast...!!!

I doubt memberships will fall away if its handled right.

I'm lucky because i had to work that night and therefore missed the game! But he said it was the worst display of football he has ever seen in his life.

needless to say, i almost passed out when he told me this.

THe worst game i have seen this season was when we played against the Tigers maybe the westcoast game was for a half the Tigers game was for all four qurters has to be the worst performance i have witnessed in the Navy Blue in the past 3 years at least against the coasters we saw a competitive half. but as people have said we will get renewed hope in 2006 team will be different who knows hopefully the assistant coaches will be shaken up we will see the likes of Santanta evlevated to the seniors ... see Blackers / J Smith / Russell / Hartlett / Raso / inject some enthusiasm into the team ... maybe we will the Bullants win the VFL like Geelong did in 2002 and see the kids who have tasted success come into the 2006 squad. ALso we will see Walker / Betts / Bryan / Waite step up again in 2006. So yer hopefully this will re spark the club in Season 2006.. And add to that most probably draft picks and a UNcontracted player if there are any decent ones left from where it looks like we will finish the year in 2005. So i have much optimism that 2006 will erase some of the horrible nightmares of 2005. But Pagan will also need to re access his coaching style to adjust to the new list i dont want to see a repeat of 2005 for a long time to come

Nah, I'm serious... there are some rough diamonds, you just have to give them a bit of polish.

I have been too lucky with Carlton over the last 50 odd years to abandon them in their latest dilemma. Too many beautiful memories. We haven't always been topdog but but got the bit between the teeth and recovered. People that got such short memories and would abandon the club because because it hurts their own egoes aren't too much of a loss. I get shitty like everyone else when we get a bath time after time, but come the morning it is usually forgotten and its "bring on the next game".

Does anyone know if the club recognises long service in terms of membership? I know the aim of the game is to recruit new members but surely retention is just as important. Imagine if after five years of continual membership you got a phone call from Denis thanking you or for ten years an invitation to a club function etc. It doesn’t have to be a huge thing just recognition that supporters who stick with the team are the lifeblood of the organisation.

I like the idea some clubs have with scarves each year showing how long you've been a member.

Maybe the hat's we get now could be made up the same way

Did you see Andrew Walker pirouette out of trouble in the last quarter?
I'm signing up just to watch that kid burn them up.
