According to SEN tomorrows papers will be about Collo about to hold the axe over players necks...
He has warned players not to think about offers the club has offered.
Also that theyre all playing for their careers.

Walker and Lappin are negotiating right now?

DOA said no problems with AW. Bit of gossip about Lappin today but maybe the club is playing hardball. We dont have much to lose to be honest. I am happy that Collins is going to come out and say something. We cant let players hold the club to ransom. If they dont want to be here then delist/trade them. We cant be any worse than what we are now.

Well not trying to stir up a hornets nest about Campo. I dont care if he stays or goes to be honest. Same for Lappin. Admire Skinny but if he wants out then let him go.
Pagan is a hard man and might be a bit to honest for some of these guys. Better to get rid of all the dead wood. We dont want a climb up the ladder iin the next few years only to fall back when the going got tough. We are getting that now because of some lack of spirit and character.
As long as Waite, Walker, Thornton, Carrazzo, Fev, Stevens and all the draft picks from this year. I really dont care about the rest. Most of them are not going to take us any where.

Those players have taken us nowhere.
I agree with that list.(Add Betts Fisher and Livo)

I did not include evertone but you know what I mean. We talk about the same players all the time. If Campo is not happy with a reduced contract and 2 years and Lappin a 2 year contract when both are 29 then let them go. We cant let long contracts hang around our neck at this stage. Need money and flexability for the youngsters when they mature and deserve bigger money.
Looking at the performances it is pretty obvious some players are just looking for there pay check and the end of the season. We are getting nowhere like this so might as well make some more tough decisions.
Lappin for a second round pick.
Campo for a third round pick.
Whitnall for a late first round pick.

If there is interest then trade them. If they want to stay for 2 years each on around 250k then keep them.

So Lappin is the player rumoured player looking to go back to the Saints then?

Mikey, I'd bite your hand off through this computer if you could guarantee those picks for these three. :P Not gonna happen... age, motivation, etc etc.

It's patently clear we will be shit next yr due to the youth of our list and may see improvent in 2007 if things progress well. 2008 is looking likelier for a serious uptick in performance. Skinny and Campo know this, the club knows this, so I guess for a change the club is holding the axe

My dad gave me his father's axe - its been in the family for over 50 years the same old trusty axe.

We have only replaced the handle 3 times and the blade twice.

Its a great axe. :P

Kudos to Collo for sticking to his guns and not giving into these blokes who think that Carlton owes them.

You are probably right. Add a round to all those trades and it might be realistic.
If we are going to be rubbish next year then lets be a young team who wants to play for Cartlon and will listen to the coach.
Hawthorn might be falling away a bit now and only have half a win more but they have so much more to look forward to with there youngsters and spirit than we do.

Love that analogy AGRO.

It is good to see the admin talking tough instead of letting the players have their own way. If we have to replace a few axeheads, fine. If we have to replace the handles as well, then fine.

The axe has got to understand it is a tool used for chopping.

The axe cannot chop wood without the axeman.

Axes that think they don't need the axeman need to be replaced.

Careful with that axe Eugene.

Whatever happens - and yes something drastic is needed - can we just show a bit of respect to the players. Lets not forget what Lappin has given our club and in particular remember the cheers he got on the rally day after he stayed with Carlton for less money.

Good thing it wasn't olive trees. Nothing like fresh juicy olives with a bit of warm bread and feta cheese, especially olives from kalamata !!!
