This is one of those monumental moments in a footy clubs history that can shape its future for a number of years. A crossroads type of situation. The club needs to be ULTRA-tough with these negotiations and hold its ground. Be reasonable but don't cave in to ridiculous demands. Campo is almost turning into a liability nowadays and has been troublesome for a number of years. He has lost a lot of clout over the years, and whilst being a 10 year Carlton player, he cannot simply command a massive pay day because he is a long time servant.

During our most darkest years he has proven to have no true leadership or have the ticker to help the club. He has instead been interested in self-preservation and his own interests. He has been paid well above his market worth for 4-5 years. I don't know what the clubs offer is on the table but I would be mighty pissed off if it is longer than 2 years and more than $250K annually.

Skinny has been a great servant and probably deserves generous remuneration. I would be happy if he received $250-300K annually but a 2 year contract is appropriate. 3 years is excessive.

If they do not want to comply then the equation is simple - they must go. Personally I think a trade for Campo wont happen. He will get picked up by a club if he is in a draft but a trade would be hard, 4th round at best. Skinny I think would command a 2nd round or even a late 1st round. Lance should command a 1st round or straight swap with a real decent player.

We are at absolute rock bottom and the need to wipe the slate clean and start again has never been greater. These players should not be allowed to hold the club to ransom and compromise its future abilities to once again be successful. Thanks guys for your efforts, but the Carlton Football Club is far more important then your demands.

Whatever happens - and yes something drastic is needed - can we just show a bit of respect to the players. Lets not forget what Lappin has given our club and in particular remember the cheers he got on the rally day after he stayed with Carlton for less money.

Incidentally, how good was it to see / hear Dave and Roger up on stage together again?

 Synbad - very good.

...and yes Molsey it was although Dave was looking distressingly like a well fed accountant.

After he was replaced by Dave Guilmore hed go to all the gigs front row and give Guilmore filthy looks never taking his spaced out eyes from him....

Later on he was tracked down by RollingStone magazine "Doing meaningless chores for his grandmother" in some English village....

and yeah "Wish you were here" i wish there were a few ex Carlton players here... :D

Well....given that there was a period of a couple of years when Syd's guitar wasn't even plugged in.....And Dave G played in his stead.....

The Floyd was never the same after the Wall. Although I did like Mometary Lapse of Reason

But really........

Pink Floyd where great the other morning.........!

Dave always wears a black t-shirt and jeans
on stage.......great.......!

his voice was fantastic......and his playing.....excellent.......!

Roger.....well Roger's voice was average at best.....
but he was there.....that was the best part.......!

after Roger left....things did get a little shite.....but
the Wall......the Wall.........WOW........!

we only have Roger to thank for that..........!

with out a doubt.......in my Top 5 all time
greatest bands.......!

kindest regards tommi

Greek mouse traps............!

Yeah Tommi - The Wall is a fave but a bit of Dave remained.

Did you go and see Roger when he toured here...fantastic.

Its good to Collins come out and say this about players and contracts but the below quote I don't agree with..

Quote:
Collins also told the special gathering of players, key staff and some directors that the Blues were not "playing for draft picks", intended to win every week and did not want to finish on the bottom.

Not looking outside the square.. Even though it sucks but we must "rort" the system while we can..

Wait until after the draft and the picks have been used then come out and tell the AFL "We have been done for Salary cap rorting and this year we tanked our season and rorted the draft"

Just trying to keep tha anti-tanking police from changing the goal posts before the November draft. You really cant be to careful with "Vlad the Impaler" running the show.
Kouta at CHB and Stevens out of the midfield sounds like playing for the picks to me.
