Pagan's sacrifice

But in terms of building a winning football team, it is a brave club that would place Fevola as a cornerstone.

Ok he's an elite talent, and when he's hot he's hot, but when he is not he is horrible. He provides no leadership and runs as a complete distraction to the team, particualrly to a young team, and they drop their heads.

Where is his hard work ethic?

where is his commitment to the cause?

Is he one of the "me first"s that Sellars has been talking about?

Is he worth more to us in young talent that we can build a team around?

Should we return to ground zero and trade him to start again.

Can't trade him until the end of 2006 now.

dont start listening to what the media has to say.

they wouldnt understand football unless it hit them in the a head.

Its simple really - we are paying the price for no mid field.

Our defence and our forward line isnt doing too badly IMO.

We certainly cant blame our defence. When the ball comes in at the rate of knots that it was on sunday not even the great SOS would have been able to keep the goal run of st.kilda in check.

And our forward line - well you cant kick goals if you dont have the chance to take any marks.

Put Fevola in a team like WC - He would kick 100+ goals a year without any trouble.

A Full Foward is only as good as the ball that is being kicked to him.

Mind you - i think people need to ask questions of the umpire. The decision and resultant 50m penalites where a disgrace. Several times i say the same thing happen Fevola v Hudgton or Livingston v Gehrig and to me i couldnt pick a single difference yet, for what ever reason, Hudgton and Gehrig where getting the free kicks.

That is not to dismiss Fevola for giving away 50m penalities - but the frustation one must feel in that circumstance must be ... well ... umm very frustating.

Watched the replay - and was interesting to note that Bryan Tailor calls that prat "The quickest whistle in the Game"

i mean really if a 50 was given for Fevola calling the umpire a goose then the guy should not be umpiring a game of football.

And he was short as well - talk about small man syndrome.

does that mean you can't trade a player in the first year of their contract?

doesn't that mean that if we sign Lance, Campo or Lappin that none of them can be traded either?

or is it something else?

this creates a major dilema.

If we sign, we cannot trade.

If we don't sign, they list for the pre season draft and we get nothing.

Is there any way we can get something for these guys?

Yes, we can try and trade them , if another club is willing and the player is willing, or they can be forced into the PSD, so softly,softly....

So,

if we can organise a trade, like say, Lance to Brisbane for a second round pick, and they think there is a risk that he might go early in the PSD (or before them anyway), and lance says ok, I'll go to Brisbane, then a deal can be done.

I suppose has the added benefit that the contract price is not nominated as required in the PSD.

Are the conversations all ready underway?
