Big positive coming up with Essendon* v COllingwood - 1 more team to lose the priority pick status!

Simpson was the big positive today. Showed Justin Davies a few things about making position and capitalising on opportunities.

Bowyer and Livo were probably our two best players to half time. Livo just really has the stature and composure of a man now, rather than a boy. Livo and Carrazzo have been our big success stories for the year I reckon.

Isn't it funny how everyone was bagging Carazzo out about his disposal earlier in the year? I reckon he has really turned that around. I think perhaps he is looking for shorter options rather than just banging it long.

Just on Davies - I watched the Bullants on the weekend and can I just say how poor Davies was. Consistently fighting, giving aw3ay frees, stuffing up kicks - I was a big supporter until the weekend but now I feel he knows he's given it away.

Carrazzo ... thought he was probably our best. ANd there is not and never has been anything "wrong" with his disposal ... as has been discussed to death, and actually verified by the stats.

Simpson ... had a red hot go and took them on, and looked like he belongs.

Walker ... going just as hard in the last as in the first.

Bryan ... tried hard , in fact a little too hard a few times with his kick-outs.

Prendergast .. he too looked like he gave it his all.

Lappin, Livo, Teague, T-Bird, Bowyer all tried hard. Stevens still looks like he has a problem, but was trying in the 2nd half.

And Russell a couple of beautiful long kicks.

Interesting that 4 of the least experienced players are showing some of our "seniors" how the game should be played.

But I won't say anymore cos this thread is about positives.

Be as supportive as you would like Headplant but don't try to rewrite history. Carrazzo's disposal has been his weak link, and even he would acknowledge that. In 2004 at VFL level he had some shocking games with his kicking...

However

he has really turned the corner in 2005 and I think its great for him. Carrazzo is now one of our first picked every week and we can look forward to him being around for a long while yet.

There's something romantic about a life long Carlton fan pulling on the navy blue and doing well.

Simpson...disposal was good and the three goals..
Teague..was brave and filled the gap in front of Gehrig..
Bowyer...no fuss player....got it and kicked it rather than being fancy.
Bryan...rucked ok and got a bit of the ball
Carrazzo..kept on running and trying to create the overlap...
Livo for a half...not big enough for Gehrig and then Kosi.....2nf half he lost confidence but did keep trying and wasnt our worst player..

The Gehrig, Kosi, Ackland setup along with Milne was too much...too much marking power and Milne collected what crumbs there were...Ackland surprised me...good overhead and good skills for a big man...

We had too many of our so called star players as passengers...took my family along to watch the game and it was a cold miserable trek on the way home and many supporters cant wait for the axe to swing both with the player list and coaching staff.....lots of hostile supporters on the train and I reckon a few memberships might be lost judging by the comments of some...

Well that may be, but I wasn't referring to his VFL disposal, I was referrignto his AFL disposal. And my statement in that respect is not at all revisionist.

Haha, fair enough. In that case I could have been a great AFL player, my skills at under 16 level may not have been up to it but all I needed was a chance!

Bryan would be just about our best kick to a target inside 50 on current form.

He is such a good kick it scares me!

Oh, one more positive, seeing as I put myself in an AFL free zone yesterday and watched the replay on Fox ... I don't have to listen to those boneheads commentating on Ch9.

Brayshaw, Brize  and Lyon ... GET RID OF THEM!!!

Very interesting molsey, but can you explain what he did that's actually any different to what he's always done? The most overrated player possibly ever on our list

I'm sure Sky will have them for the cricket broadcasts...

This 'my man, your man' shizen of MMM is an absolute farce. It reminds me of posters who bag a guy incessantly and then suddenly say 'I always rated him'. Brayshaw can't commentate, doesn't know the game, can't follow the game, but is given a go because he does breakfast radio on MMM.

Anyway fevolaaa, you can probably recall Davies being in the best for a number of Bullants games. Most of these he deserved, as he has been a ball magnet at that level. All I'm saying is that he was very poor on Saturday, just made too many mistakes. Too many free kicks. I can honestly say I've seen him play fantastic games at the lower level but he burned up all his brownie points on Saturday.

Where Daviesplays in the 1's begs the question though - why, if a guy plays well on-ball at the lower levels, why not play him there?

I remmeber watching the Bullants game that was televised earlier in the year and I thought he was pretty damn bad, a shitload of clangers and soft possessions, yet he was almost universally named best. Based on possession count. Some people miss the big picture

Gotta remember that Mitchell just makes up thebest players on the spot after a game. Stats dont seem to have too much to do with it.

You may have to trust me on Davies playing well at the lower levels. But as per previous post I was pretty annoyed on the weekend. He has lost my support for whatever that is worth, I won't defend him again (I don't think I'm defending him to you, just stating an opinion).

As for being the most overrated player ever, I would have thought James Cook got that?

He's the most overrated current player in any case, people still do genuinely rate the squib

actually i tend to agree, he looked better than he actually was i reckon. longmuir looked like a brownlow mediallist in that game.
and has done nothing in the 1sts. i had high hopes for him too, and chambers has been the dissapointment of the season for me.

where we are getting killed in the middle, and speedy big body with senior level experience would have been more than handy
