There is a total player payment minimum we have to meet. With Lance, Campo, McKernan and Beaumonts contracts ending we have to make up the rest of the cap. Don't think too many should be getting a rise.

Well if we get rid of Lappin, Campo and Lance how are we gonna make the salary cap minimum. We'll have to pay some pretty ordinary players some pretty big money.

Well hopefully Lappo will come to his senses (if the story is true) and take a reasonable amount for a 2 year contract.

And if we have a lot of money free..come on down Mal Michael! Or who is that other bloke you wanted Synbad.....Kosi?

It really pisses me off that people want to line the pockets of players who dont care about the club.

The Game... i think youve lost it mate!!!!

Noone said dont give Lappin a good wage next year.... its in three years the club is worried about...

How about not losing track of perspective for once....

Lappin can stay..... he will get paid well!!!

But he isnt getting a three year contract....Should i mouth those words to you slowly....
Hard to understand???

Use it on some trades to recruit someone.
Use it on Murphy to get him to stay in Victoria (not sure if you can do this).
Pay over the odds to get Mal or someone of his quality.

Mrs Caz id love Kosi.. id give him a five year contract everyone....!!!
Id break the rules because... you have to pay over the odds to land a player like that.... and you wont get a power forward from anywhere inside five years.
Plus i believe his body will stand up for 5 years...

Kosi has been great the last couple of weeks. Watch his price go up as he leads the Saints into the finals.

whats his price 600 , 700 ? give it to him, he is that vital.

Getting rid of Lappin,Campo and Whitnall should free that money up.

We will also get more for that money out of one player

Thats what the pre season draft is for. Offer great quality youngsters like tenace or the selwood brothers who are coming to the end of their first contract period some big bucks up front to entice. Carlton must do what St Kilda and Geelong did 4 years ago-identify the players that will be part of our next successful phase (3-4 years time) and anybody who wont likely be there at that time is dispensable. The reason we are in our current position is because since its inception the club has not had any respect for the mechanism refered to as THE DRAFT. Now we are paying the price. It is the only means of properly improving your playing list. Forget about rejects or high profile older out of contract players from other clubs. Use all our picks on good quality youth, sit back and be patient.

Mmm Alistair Lynch - 10 years on $100pa...ended up being a bargain!

Someone is going to get hung out to dry...it will be a shame if it's Lappo and the issue is the 2-3 year thing.
It would be better if it was one of the other two quibbling about $$ - makes a better example...(although I guess the 2 year policy is an example in itself).

TG I have to agree that we don't want to pay ordinary players big money....But the minimum is 92 or 95% ?? I think that with Campo on the Vet list and Fev's contract and some dosh for PSD , they'll be there about without having to "front load" contracts

Look if It took 500k x 5 to bring Kosi i would go this way///

First year 700k
next four years 450k...

His head would spin if he saw 700 big ones on a contract...!!!!!!

What has Tenace or the Selwood boys done to deserve high dollars?
The Selwoods look good tagging some lone ranger while there midfields (WC and Brisbane) are dominant. It is easy tagging a bloke who gets no blocks or shepherds or help from other players.
I would like to see one of the Selwoods tag Aker with no help from his teamates. Then we would see where those guys are at. Good competent footballers and thats all.
The one who is to young for the draft is a diffferent stroy all together. He can win the ball on his own merits in heavy traffic.
Tenace has very poor skills and makes bad decisions and even though he is playing in a strong side and can free wheel all he likes on the wing still is not doing much.

I am all for offering young talent big money to move across. Problem is Hodge, Judd, Ball, Dal Santo and the like are all signed up and not moving. Mitchell is signed. Kelly and so on.
Chapman, Bartel, Corey and Steve Johnson are all available.
Big Mal is a differnet story he might want to leave and be persuaded to go for nothing or a token to Brisbane.

Front loaded contract is a good idea. Same for Big Mal if that helps. Anything that gets them here but does not compromise things down the line in 3 or 4 years.

You wouldnt get a Kosi to the club or anyone else who can put a stamp on the team for less than that kind of money.
People dont leave clubs vying for premierships to play for Carlton for the same kind of money as they would have otherwise got at their club.
