Well done to Pago and still think coaching last year to extract 10 wins with such a list was remarkable - imagine how its going to go when we get more talent -

Actually, we will get a lot more talent in the side at the end of the 2005 season.

Combined with 5 or 6 young players in the 3rd placed bullants (a much higher placed VFL team than Williamstown is) we will have a sound base on which to build.

A lot of people forget that unlike some other teams outside the 8, there are quite a few young players developing in the VFL that havent played much in the seniors yet. Combine this with the new players post 2005 finals and we will move forward.

I reckon half the football world wouldn't have any idea about our youngsters floating around in the twos.

The only one they would have any idea about would be Setanta and to a very lesser extent, Aisake.

So what does that tell you?

Far be it from me to be the smartarse on this board, but.....

If you have the second tier talent in your 2's, why aren't you playing them? And where does that blame lie that you're not?

Totally agree.
I think most of us here have been screaming out for Denis to play our younger brigade, but for some reason he won't.

So we have more National Rising Star nominees next year  and Denis will then look like he's developing talent and coaching well.

Can i just say that he was very honerable and positive today! Loved all that he said! Never once refered to THE players or THE TEAM......more so, OUR players and OUR team!

Well Done Pagan!

Whether you were taking the piss or being serious, at times like these as supporters we need hope.
We were given hope on Sunday through Carrots, Simmo and JR's two bullet like passes that hit their targets.

I'd love to see Blackers and Harts get a run before the season is finished.

The kids that we have wouldn't be physically looked after, like they would be if they were in Brisbane's team. But I do think as Russell won't play more than 10 games thsi year, he would be still eligible and could win the award next year.
I'd love to see Hartlett get a run when French returns and kiss Prendergast goodbye as a Blues player.Certainly prefer him ahead of Morrell who is a deadend but may cost us a draft pick.

I think they're being held back because their bodies arn't up to the elite level yet. A few years ago we threw blokes like Livingstone, Sporn and Wiggo to the wolves well before they were ready, as a result they were asked to do too much in a crap side and their confidence was shot to bits.

Just on that point PJ - was anyone else spewing when JR's second kick on the wing (that set up a goal) wasn't captured on tv?

From memory they might have cut to someone with an injury or Fevola on the bench. I saw JR pick up the ball, thought, 'here we go, get to get a bit of a look at the kid' - and then the camera cut to something that was utterly non interesting. I nearly vomited in frustration.

You're right Mandy.
The blame lies with Pagan for actually looking after the youngsters and not playing them till they're ready.
He doesnt throw them in the deep end just to keep supporters happy or to keep the heat off himself and the board.

Pagan looks to tommorow and wont compromise it to bow to the media.
Not like other clubs.

The fish rots at the head first.
Perhaps you could put that in your theme song instead of "the premierships a cakewalk!"

why play the kids?

You play them for 2 reasons only - they are ready

or

you wish to lose.

Ours aren't ready
we're doing a fine job of losing without them.

besides 3 of them - Becker Smith and Setanta are rookies.

Play this year out

see which of the rest we wish to keep

Give Rusell a couple more games but not too much

Hartlett maybe at the end

Blackers a single game - maybe

that'll do pig, that'll do.
