Thanks for the update BB.Wondering what your thoughs on Michael Malouf were ? There were initially misgivings about this guy as he came from a non footy background. No great knowledge of management type stuff myself, but i got a gut feeling this guy is a bit of a quiet achiever.Seems to go about his business in a quiet a nd methodical way.Got a feeling we have discovered a diamond in the rough .I am immpressed with the guy myself.Wondering your thoughts BB as you seem to have a good handle on this type of stuff.

He's a smart operator. Just deals with the dollars and cents of managing the business that happens to be a football club. Let's the football department do their thing, within budget, of course. You only have to look at the Alan Scott scenario to appreciate his business acumen.

Another thing the club is doing is holding a major raffle with big prizes like cars, overseas holidays etc. Tickets aren't cheap (about $300), but they've modelled it on what Geelong do, and it raises about $1m a year for them. Our raffles have generated about $100K for the club. They actually poached the guy who organised the Geelong raffle to work for us now. Another good initiative.

JohnM, it's direct sponsorship.
I think they have 5 $1m+ sponsors.

Michael also mentioned Alan Scott from K&S Freighters, one of our new sponsors. Alan was approached the day after last year's Grand Final (strike while his blood was still boiling). Alan's wife is a Carlton supporter, as well as his daughter, and son-in-law. Was pleased to announce that Alan himself has joined up this week as a member.

Interesting that rumours are abound in SA that Scott does not want to renew his sponsorship with Port Adelaide. Carlton and Collingwood are the prospective teams to prosper, but according to the SEN reporter tonight Alan's daughter is a Collingwood supporter?

Even more interesting is the big announcement Collingwood have tomorrow with EVERYONE in the club required to attend?

7 News said it was to announce another  major sponsorship. Wizzard I think it was.... The conflict of interest master Eddie gets all this money rolling to the Pies by mis-using free advertising on TFS as part of the package.

Good luck to him. If Collo had his own show, we'd expect him to do the same.

K&S management attended a sponsors review last week.
Most of our sponsors would be pleased with the proactive approach of the clubs corporate development team.

Our on field performance may not be encouraging but the people behind the scenes are putting in the hard yards.

Oh, I know about this raffle.... Couldn't really afford it, bought a ticket anyway because it was for the club, hid it from the wife, got sprung, luckily avoided a row - and am now waiting for tomorrow's result to see if I'm the new owner of a brand-spanking WRX.... :P
