It's the AFL covering their arse much like Collo denying the problems with the surface at Docklands is covering his arse.
Once they admit to something like a dodgy playing surface or a media influenced review panel they open themselves up to possible legal action.
So Collo and the management at Telstra are copping a well deserved spray - so why does that make the AFL immune to equally warranted criticism?

Because if you're a player/club official the AFL will hit you with a charge of bringing the game into disrepute and conduct unbecoming etc etc while the media are content to sling mud at someone like Fev than ask the hard questions of the asshats at AFL house.
There are myriad questions that need to be asked but the media are too spineless to do it.
What happened to mattylloyd.com/jameshird.com?
What exactly does/did James Hird do in his role as umpires advocate or whatever the hell he was made after bagging the umps?
Why was the AFL unwilling to negotiate with the MCC on the prelim final arrangement when Carlton were in the picture but are now happy to with Collingwood?
Why was Carlton not allowed their priority pick in the 2002 draft when they were allowed to have one in 2003?
Why is Ron Evans allowed to have his finger in so many pies and why is he allowed to comment/decide on salary cap penalties when his club was one of the worst offenders?
Why is Demetriou allowed to bag a club's playing style (Swans) yet anyone who bags the AFL in any small way get's a "please explain" and threats of charges andor legal action?
The people who run the game are detached from reality, they sit in their ivory tower making decisions that affect the everyday footy fan but have no idea.
