Welcome to yet another belated edition of Wolfister's weekly one cent stats. This week the gang at Wolfister Inc (the big blue office at the bottom end of town) toyed with the idea of dropping ourselves from the stats - such has been our poor contribution to the team effort of late. But we've decided to give ourselves one more chance. Round 16 - now every team has played each other once, so the run home begins... so for us that means that there are just 7 weeks of pain to go. Seems like Green Day have got behind our cause at the moment too, releasing a single with the chorus "Wake me up, when September ends"... truer words about supporting Carlton in 2005 have not been spoken. Just think, 10 years ago we were powering our way towards our 16th premiership... that 17th now looks light years away.

OK, where we... oh yeah, the stats... well they're actually not that flash, but here goes anyway...

We've played the Dockers 15 times, for only 8 wins (53%) at PM+143. They've won the last 5 in a row (PM-170), however we did win the 5 previous to that, making it 5-5 from the last 10 at PM+69, The last time we beat the Dockers was back in 2001, where we got up by 75 points at Optus Oval. That game drew the lowest crowd on record between the two clubs - tomorrow could well beat that record, so maybe we can rise to that occasion and repeat the dose! Tomorrow's game will be the first time that the two sides have met at the MCG.

Carlton have lined up in Round 16 105 times for 62 wins (59%) at PM+1065. We've won 3 of our last 5 (PM+53) and 6 of our last 10 (PM+32) - including our last start against the Kangaroos at Optus Oval last year. We've played the Dockers once in Round 16 - the game we spoke about above where we beat them at home back in 2001. We've played at the MCG only 6 times in Round 16 for 4 wins at PM+115 - the last clash coming back in 1999 where we got thumped by Essendon*... of course later that year, we all know what happened at the same venue!

Interestingly our July 17 record is exactly the same as our record against the Dockers - 8 wins from 15 starts (53%) with a PM+27. We have however won our last 4 July 17s on the trot (from 1976) - our last start being against the Kangaroos in that game in round 16 last year.

Till next week remember that no matter which way you look at it, stats don't tank... unless they're stats about tanks...

Wolf out.
