Just an idea I have been thinking about, and I'm sure others have too. I also believe the club has presented this notion to the AFL but got the cold shoulder, but maybe if there is enough support we can get the club to keep on trying. We need to get ourselves back on the map in every facet of the game and a Good Friday fixture could help us do that.

If we could tie in another club and own this date making it an annual fixture it could prove to be a fantastic boon for our club.

I appreciate the issues involved with a Good Friday fixture, but I believe this is at least worth pursuing and debating.

What do you reckon?

YES!

Those who want to go/watch can, those that don't can give it a miss.

Sick of having other peoples beliefs rammed down my throat. I'd love to watch a Good Friday night game of footy.

Hell yeah.

Like Deano, I'm sick of other people's beliefs being rammed down my throat.
A small change wouldn't hurt.

Yep it's time, they play sporting events on this day the world over, why should we be different.

I would love to see Good Friday footy. I'm not religious & don't celebrate Easter at all so bring it on! As long as the players/umpires etc are happy to go along with it then I don't see what the problem is. Supporters who don't wish to support it due to their religious beliefs don't have to go.

What about players that have religious beliefs?

Definitely. Bring it on.

Now... against whom?

I say the Bulldogs. You know, the whole "back from the dead" thing...

The crowd would be poor, thousands of Carlton supporters would have strong Catholic or Christian beliefs.

What about players that have religious beliefs that are currently being contravened?

The time has come - if you're religious, then good luck to you, have a lovely good friday at church, on a hill or dancing in the backyard around a burning goat if that's what you're into, I'll be watching the footy THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

All the guys I go to the footy with are orthodox (Greek and Serbian) and have never went to the footy so for some people its different.

If we play footy on Good Friday why not start the big test match a day earlier on Christmas day?

Putting all religious beliefs aside I just don't think the game would be as profitable on Good Friday night as opposed to any other Friday night.

Undecided, as it would depend on who is fixtured. But I'm not against the idea.
