Collo reiterated today that the board would take a harder line with older players.
Bodies get older, lesser scope for improvement and all that.
Interesting quotes from Campo on 927 earlier this week (haven't seen them posted elsewhere - apologies if they have been).
``I've been at Carlton for 11 years and I've always wanted to be at the club. They've looked after me, everything I've got is from the club. But if that's the way the club wants to go down that road, well these things happen and you've got to look at every option.''

Denis says the match committee has told the board which players it wants to re-sign.

That would be good!!

The cockles of my hear have ignited at the thought.

Or, how about they all dress up as Jake the Peg in Carlton jumpers...three legs...three signed on...three years...Shit!...sorry, 2 years.

On Livo- if he went to another club he would be the Mal Michael end of the Jarrod Malloy swap the Pies made. Livo is only bubbling at present.

Waite and Walker are very fine players starting with W that Carlton need, Even though Carlton starts with C.

Nobody would like us at all if we were called Warlton. There would be some football club rescue service created to fatally inject us. Maybe that has already happened? Are we becoming Warlton?

Yayyyyyyy three of my favourite players get multiple year contracts
Never in any doubt and were all must signings for Denis and the club.
Each of them is young and sometimes they have their ups and downs... but in a couple of years they will all be an integral part of this footy club.
Its not an easy time for the kids but they will get better and stronger and it will alll click for them.

As for Campo exploring all options... Tell him hes dreaming!!!!

This guy has been well looked after by the club for years and he has never put his hand up... he has put it out but never up!!!...

Id turf him out!!!!!... and give Lappin Campos share as well.. but he only gets two years!!!!

I hope the downhill skiier skis all the way out onto Royal Parade and keeps going...

For once I agree with Synbad.

See at the end of the day, after everyone here rants and raves and screams at eachother, we are all one and the same.

I remember the happiness that flowed on TBV when we picked up Stevens and Walker and all the other 'potential' Adam McPhee's. Everyone was so excited. It's good to get a bit of optimism back.

GO BLUES!

I just think Livo's story is a great one and should be an inspiration to every other player on the list - Campo et al.

Who knows maybe it represents 3 of the 5 down the spine in 2 years?

livo on WLF said he had only been offered a 1 year deal.

said it was an agreement for both parties considering the injuries he has had. gives him motivation etc..

Still it is great news. I have confidence that these three guys will form an integral part of our team of the future.

I agree also, he has the worse winning record but he isn't all to blame for it, but i dont like how he plays often from behind instead of in front of his opponent i still feel he is worried about his back and never be a great fullback, i prefer him to play up forward maybe centre half forward and see how he goes there while we recruit someone at Fullback from a trade or any who isn't contracted.

Very happy to have signed 3 young players who are the future of Carlton...although I hate how the media is determined to flog the Campo, Lappo & Lance thing to death

I realise that they are established senior players at Carlton but Tony (Yes Mr. McGuire...you're so big and strong) Jones on Channel 9 gave the news of the signings all of 2 seconds with about 1 sec of video of Walks, Livo and Waite walking into the press conference before dribbling on about how we aren't offering contracts to the other three!! Bring back Jim Wilson and his balanced Carlton coverage!!!

Oh well, no bicycle, sombreros or peg legs.

At least there was no football.

Pagan said the new signings would form the basis for the club's future. "Contrary to some opinions we think that some of our young players are really growing and taking sizeable leaps forward."Walker, selected at No. 2 by the Blues in the 2003 draft, was given a two-year deal worth just under $200,000 a year, while Waite signed a new three-year contract worth more than $700,000. Livingston, who was selected at No. 4 in the 2000 draft but has been hampered by injury, was given a one-year deal to rebuild his career.

Geez nice dollars for Waite (not saying he isnt necessarily worth it though)... How come he gets a three year deal and 1AW only gets two years??

I would have thought Walkers future is as bright as Waites (if not more so) so why wouldn't you give him the same contract term??

Good decision to give Livo only a one year deal at this stage, given his injuries....

One year deal for Livo is sensible, the other two are integral players for the clubs future and deserve two year deals as they have proven themselves..Livo still has to remain injury free and produce the goods...

There is all this talk about Denis losing the players yet we just have our young kids sign for more of the same and the older ones baulk.. Good sign that i reckon!!!
Now the kids do get sometimes influenced by the older players at the twilight of their careers who are the ones holding out..
The kids have good games and bad games and in this current climate of NO LEADERSHIp are sometimes down... but the next day theyre back up!!!
We need time to settle the ship.
Leaders be gone!!!!
