If you were Murphy, why would you want to come to Carlton... what to play along Houla, Campo and Lappin..

Why not go to Brisbane and play along Brown, Nigal Lappin, Voss, Acka, Black, Power and co... The choice is easy...

Bossie

its not Houla, Campo and Lappin he needs to think about.

Its Silvagni, Kernahan and Nicholls. Its the respect of the Blues his father would have instilled in him after competing against us.

And its the rain, the absence of rugby league, its Brunswick st, its meeting neighbours stars at parties, its hearing about your good performances on the radio, its calling your best mates from school and being able to meet them without flying, its visiting the Napier pub and seeing pictures of his old man on the wall whenever he wants, and its about maintaining the feeling of intellectual superiority over Queenslanders........

And, most importantly, its US... and especially ME!!!!!!!!

Last time I checked, I don't barrack for Brisbane. Nor do any of us. That's why he won't choose Brisbane. BECAUSE HE WOULDN'T GET US!!!!!

There is an "equalisation policy" in the AFL that ensures that eventually all sides will be bad, but, eventually, they'll come good again. Similarly, teams that are very good, will inevitably go bad after X number of years.

Do you think Nick Riewoldt resents being drafted by St.Kilda? A team that was bottom when he was selected?

I'm sure Nick Riewoldt would tell Marc Murphy that he's glad St.Kilda picked him, because they rebuilt with a young squad that enabled him to feel part of a "movement".... the kind of youth movement Marc Murphy will be a big part of if he joined us.

Don't you reckon Marc Murphy is somewhat excited about the prospect of walking straight into AFL, under a highly credentialled senior coach?? Maybe Marc Murphy wants to consider where he can make the biggest splash from day one???????

But Bosman.... the point I was making is that Brisbane are good now because its "their time". In 3 years it could be our time, and Brisbane might be last, and Marc will think "shit, I wish now I'd picked Carlton...."

Success now should have nothing to do with his choice... unless the kid and everyone he knows is an utter moron.

Robert Harvey, for example, has played for several seasons and has been in (from memory), 3 good periods (early 90s, late 90s, now), and 3 shit ones (late 80s, mid 90s, 2000).

Success goes in cycles... and Marc should realise that there's not a lot more that can go wrong with us! the valley's GOT to be on the incline!

He should think about where he'll be most settled and get the best opportunities.

Settled = Carlton, hands down
Best opportunities = probably equal

Carlton are low, but we have a rich culture and very wealthy benefactors. We might be struggling, but we're not a "poor club". He'd have about as much chance of playing with a premiership first with us as Brisbane.... although Brisbane will start off better than we are.

I reckon, if Murphy decided NOT to join us ONLY BECAUSE we're a crap team at the moment, then he's a gibbering moron who doesn't deserve to be classified "human".
