....is a @#$%&! disgrace.

The Dome surface looked practically dead last night and it's not up to AFL standard imo. Should get the Princes Park curator down there and fix it asap before more injuries occur.

Had a lot of turf replaced.....a heap of nice green stuff and the rest of the ground looks dead.

Unfortunately the curator is a curator not a miracle worker.

Grass needs sunlight

Looked awful but the bit of the game I watched last night didn't seem to feature people falling on their arses unlike other weeks.
The turf will never be up to scratch there unless it is freshly relaid every couple of weeks.

Yes Collins is not a fool to open his employers up to legal problems.
He also went over to the U.S. to source artificial grass blends.
Apart from Riewodlt bending over I don't know how you get sun in there?
Everyone says it's shit but no one has a solution, unless you want to play home games at Optus  or less Victorian teams.

It's never been anything but a disgrace.....

They really need a massive array of UV grow lights. Not going to be cheap or easy though.....

Collo has some Italian mates who know how to grow "grass" indoors.

Wonder why he hasn't asked them to step in and lend a helping hand. or a horse head or two.

Garth P, does GT have any Italian mates? Do you? Do you like reefers? I wouldn't be dumping on Collo or the Dome given the Saints form there................don't bite the hand that feeds you............you may just find a horses head in your bed 8)

The Dome's surface is clearly an issue and I just wish the AFL would make Collo do something about it instead of all this bullshit denial that happens.

Do you honestly think they're not trying to do something about it?
I think Telstra Dome would love nothing more than to have a pristine surface, but whoever designed the damn thing obviously ignored the evidence world over that indoor stadiums and turf go together like St Kilda and sustained success.

What are we now, 4 or 5 years in and the surface is still an issue. I take your point about the inherent problems the stadium has, however, I'm not sure any real efforts have been made to try something other than painting the sand.

The only indoor stadiums with natural turf that "work" are those where the turf is re-layed frequently or like one in Japan(?) where the entire playing surface is on tracks that move it out into the sunlight between events.
The guy from Strathayr said not but a few weeks ago that turf will not grow there, but can only be managed in how fast it dies.

What it boils down to is poor stadium design with the people running the place unable to find a solution that is financially feasible to them IMO. Constant turf replacement or special lights would surely make the place run at a loss.
