Wrote a thread a while back about the combo of French and Bryan and how I dont think it will work. I know it was Frenchs first game back but to me it just isnt going to work. French is better in the ruck but does nothing around the ground and Bryans impact is mainly the amount of ball he gets and you cant get much ball sitting on the pine.
Both are better rucking the whole game but thats not going to happen..I expect Bryan to lose form as he is the junior ruck and wont get the minutes and expect to see him playing the season with the Bullants..shame becuase I think Bryan has performed well but needs game time and experience and has a better upside than French....

Normally Elwood I agree but I have serious doubts about bryan's rucking worth.

Hey but then again I had them about Frenchy too.

Barney has been okay around the ground in the past, albeit filling in the hole at CHB. But I too am not sure how Bryan and French will go, unless it is a more old skool one on the ground, one on the bench option.

It would be great if Bryan had the athleticism to play CHB so he can do the kick ins and give us some genuine height in defence.

I think that Bryan is being groomed to taker over Barneys role in the near future..

Until then they might be our best ruck combo since the Madden/Allen combo.

They need time to adjust to being on the same team hopefully.

They've played 1 game together.... Give them a go!!

And if Deluca and Barney and Bryan play then we begin to have a tall set up with some ability.

Why couldn't Bryan play down CHB or CHF

How many games did Madden and Allan play together?

I dont think Bryan is a long term answer for ruck.

I think Bryan was overrated a little coz he kicks the ball a long way

Many "top" clubs have 2 rucks they just rotate on the bench.

They don't have to be on the ground simultaneously

Elwood i think it's the wrong game to analyse; with Frenchy just coming back and Bryan doing a Mckernan again - his timing was way off. I still think it can work but they need time to work together, plus in some forward structures we need to find space for the resting ruckman.

tend to agree with molsey - wasnt a great game for either them.

but once again - are we expecting to much from a player that is yet to play more than 20 games?

the thing that is starting to show IMO - is we are being far to critical of players that have yet to play anywhere near 75 - 100 games.

I'll go out on a limb here - Carlton 2007 has Bryan CHF, O'hAilpin CHB and a top 2005 draft pick in the ruck rotating with Barney/Archie as an apprenticeship.

Keating and Charman looked a million dollars last night.I'll take two big ruckmen in my side any day irrespective of who they might be.Look at flag sides over the years and that tandem big man setup keeps surfacing.Throw Archie into the mix and you can see that this is the least of our problems at the moment.Just not nearly enough blokes getting there hand on the pill.Got nothing to do with youth and inexperience.Too many cant find it and will never find it.Got to look at blokes who find the footy in upcoming draft.
Changing the subject to Daniel Hartford on radio yesterday...........Pull your head in.A reject from the worst club in history dictating to the worst Carlton side in history. Its a joke Skinny isnt it.A middle tier player and thats all.See ya later Skinny.

Not sure how many games, but Allen played from 94, and Harry played until 96, and if i remember correctly Harry could of gone on another year but Allen was doing well enough that he retired when he did...

Would say they played about 20 games together which isn't much but they would be a combo we would enjoy at present...

Fair points but they were up against one of the game's best and Barney was rusty as all sh.t.

But the signs weren't good.
