Ignore what?

The fact he's the biggest softcock in AFL history.

I like the fact that you have highlighted that people do seem to get blinded by his skills but time and time again he has squibbed it. And we cannot carry squibs, no team can really.

Correct Sir...each and every word.

I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt and hope he'd grow out of it as he matured...he let me down

Hmm.

Does he warrant Denis trading him?

Seriously...what do you think PJ?

Back to positive's if we can...Houla is copping his dues in other threads.

Well it depends really.

Sure he is a bit of a skirt, but his skills are pretty good.

Jump on one of the other threads and tell us if you would trade him.

What did you think of Simpson's game?

What did I think of Simmo's game?

I have been on this blokes wagon ever since he played his first game.

This bloke is going to be brilliant in a few years.

Silky skills, pace, good worth ethic, he really does have it all.

A bit more on him and we will be laughing.

Didn't mean to hijack the thread into a slagfest on Houlihan ....

Anyway, if Simpson got a game today, then that in itself is a positive. The kid needs to be given the chance, he'll grab it with both hands, I'm confident of that.

What you said needed to be said.

Simpson is an auto selection every week now, thats the best thing that could have happened.

Top 5 in order of exciting future

1. Waite
2. Walker
3. Ficher
4. Carazzo
5. Simpson

One positive for me was seeing players looking for forwards other than Fev. Fisher, Longmuir and Waite were all presenting for most of the game, meaning it wasn't totally a case of shut down Fev, shut down Carlton.

Longmuir is getting better. If he at least provides an extra option it will be handy.

Brad Fisher left the game last year a boy with a future. He has returned to the game as a man on the virge of superstardom.

Courage is a big part of Simmo's game. I loved that mark he took in defence running with the flight of the ball.

Carrots looked bloody brilliant in the first half.

Stevens making an effort to get forward and, whilst inaccurate, kicking goals.

Fevola's selflessness to pass to Waite when he could have gone back to have a crack at his first goal in three weeks.

The club knows where it is now...
We can start planning on who to bring in.
We can hopefully start playing Russell Blackwell Davies Wiggo and even Norman.

We didnt lose we won....
Hawthorn already did very well after last years draft.... glad we got a jump on them for this years crop.

Lance is becoming worth more this year than last year....(Great positive)
Good game by Lance

Synbad, would that suggest that the above are ALL required players for the furture then?

showbag,l im not suggesting those blokes are required players.
Norman will play again.... just to give them something to think about.

But surely we need to know where everybody is.
Chambers is shit... and one or two others (senior players) should get stabbed in the neck.
Kids should get every opportunity.

Cheers Synbad
Its a shame about Callum. I wonder if he is struggling to come to terms with the extra weight that he put on pre season. He's had great disposal in the past. Saying that, its difficult to dispose of it well when you can't get your hands on the footy.

I don't understand Chambers - he seems to have all the tools for a top-line player but just doesn't seem to go anywhere near the ball.

If only we could fuse Brett Johnson's inside work with Callum's skills and pace...

Agree Synbad, now that Pagan has sowed up the best draft picks for next year we need to test some players out to see where they are at. Norman, Davies & Bentick need to come in and play four full quaters.

Oh buy the way good to see you give credit to Lance. I would keep Lance, Derm the germ said after the game today that they had to change their style after half time due to Lance playing well in their forward line.

BUT still gutted about getting the spoon and being beaten by a fairly ordinary 15th team.We need talent so if we end up bottom which is now a certainty we need to draft and trade brilliantly.
Can see light at the end of the tunnel with fisher betts carrazo waite walker however there was a certain ineptitude about todays performance
THE WAY WE FAILED TO capitalise on the hawthorn errors was pretty ordinary - as for the first 10 minutes of the last quarter have you ever seen a more impotent or inept kicking and attacking for goal
Team doesnt work hard enough when it hasnt got the ball and work at stoppages and in the middle average

One of the worst sides i can ever remember.

Yes Lance played well and has been playing well for the last three weeks.
He has to play well.. He is a 25 year old footballer *with a brain * on the scrap heap.
He has probably saved himself.. but not with us.
There is no way Denis and Collo would have wanted the spoon.

However, now that we have both hands on it they probably agree the club needs it to draft better and trade better.
The positive for me is we have finally bottomed out. Could do this again next year but it wont be this insipid and from here on in the signs of a REAL re emergence will be more obvious.Players will be shed, guns will be drafted and uncontacted players that should really make a difference will be included into this great club.
The shit that for so long has been a stench around the place and a terrible influence on the kids is almost muted.

Expect kids to be given more of a responsibility next year with a few more stepping up to the plate.

Thats all we can rest our hats on.. KIDS!!!

Don't always agree with SB, but he's summed it up really well. I haven't been able to understand all the tanking talk when clearly and unequivocally we are the worst in the league, in talent, in tactics, in skills, in application and desire. And this group thoroughly deserves the spoon. So it is a positive that we can now plan for the future in the knowledge of exactly where we stand. I think those of us who see C'wood or Essendon* as possible victories this season, have been going to different games than me. Positives are as others have said. Good form of Whit, he may be slow, can't jump, but he has great hands, good disposal, good lateral movement, and does have talent. Simmo grabbing chance with both hands. Carazzo has been really good this year. Great comeback by Fish. I actually don't rate Longmuir. Too small and slow.

Must bring back Norman, he is one of our most talented youngsters. Our coaching panel are soaking up about 1mill each year. They don't teach skills, they don't think up any discernible strategies. For that sort of dough they need the man management skills to at least get inside Karl's head and turn his talent into form onfield in the seniors.

THere was a good comment in the Hun today which sums up a fair bit of the problems ... I think Shehan was asked about Fev and how he dummy spits or drops his head ect well in the old Carlton team someone like SOS Williams / Sticks / Brads would be there to come over and get him back on track ... in our current team there is no one or not anyone who is able to lift morale or get our kids back on track when something goes wrong... We need to somehow get a player who is able to lead and groom some of our younger brigade on field. We done that in the past can be done again...

ANd yep now time to play the Kids ..... and give them a shot maybe even at expence of players like Lappin who is not doing anything on the firld due to contract disputes. This will send a message to the seniors put in or you will be just another player we have to take a tuff stance from now on till draft time
