Yeah, I know, another Carlton article. Nothing too negative really, and nothing too new, but I just can't help but laugh at that bottom line.

Whether welike it or not, in 5 years time we'll all look back and see:

* 2 wooden spoons (maybe a third)
* Wizard Cup win in 2005.

It will stand out from the mess and make us smile.

Fair and poignant article.

and Kade Simpson's improvement, although impressive in recent weeks, has been a while coming.

Read this article this morning and if you believed everything you read you wouldn't go to the footy again! But it's a bit harsh to sink the boot into Simpson by stating his improvement has been a while coming, Hodge has only become a gun this year and was taken 44 picks before Slimmo.

Hodge was 2001.
Simmo was 2002.

I thought I read on here that he was from the Hodge-Judd draft and that's why it was so good? If it's 2002 then, it's even worse to bag him since he's been developing each week and isn't a Blouse!

No.

Our first pick in the 2001 draft was Waitey I think.
Followed by Davies.

We drafted Simmo at Pick 45 in the 2002 draft.
That was our first pick in that draft.

Yeah PJ is right, again. Simmo was our first draft pick after #1 and #2 among others were taken from us. He's the first from the Black Friday Draft that came to Carlton.

Simmo, Croad, Fisher, Norman from memory.

And the Man Hulk himself, Mick Martyn, was picked up using our last pick.

Apart from Croad and Norman, you'd have to say, so far, we haven't done too badly out of that draft.

I checked and you're both right, but I did read a post from a Bluesfan who claimed he was selected in the 2001 crop.

some fair points by the fat man particularly this one

"There's a whole raft of "bottom end" players, including Trent Sporn and Luke Livingston, who, for all their effort, will effectively prevent Carlton moving on to a generation of players who will at least give it a chance of being competitive."

to think both these guys were top draft picks and that Livingston was our compensation for Hamil

The future doesn't look bright, and the club is not heading in the right direction. Its gone backwards and its in free-fall.

I never realized what a great tackler Simpson was till yesterday. Skinniest guy in the team and he layed what appeared to be the best tackles.

PS What position does Goddard play these days?

Already the St. Kilda faithful are bagging the crap out of Goddard, they were merciless on SEN earlier this week.
