There's a difference between being soft and shirking.

Most soft players will still go when its their turn. They may not go looking for the contest but I never saw Bradley or Campo shirk a contest when it was there.

No ...I expected Lance to pat him on the back and say well done mate..nice lack of effort......you are making me and Campo look good keep it up..they will be begging us to stay...

At Brisbane he would have a got a verbal from Aker, glare from Brown and plenty of contesting work from the Scott boys at the next trainingI would have imagined...Voss probably would have taken him aside and had a quiet word and said the team expected better next time...

Didn't you see Lance tell him off after the incident? Do you know for a fact that Kouta hasn't spoken to him?

No I dont know what was said to him by Lance and I dont know if Kouta was going to have a chat with him at any stage...maybe you can enlighten me on both....my point is he wouldnt have been tempted to do it at a better more disciplined club because he wouldnt get away with it...thats probably why Brisbane win flags and teams like Collingwood(shaw/obree etc) dont.. I want us to be the same as Brisbane...good work ethic and no shirking at the critical times.........I remember Wiggins throwing himself on the boot at a critical time of a match in last quarter that we did win in recent times...Houlihan needed to do the same thing..I dont expect him to break his neck in some contest that has little importance but just give that bit extra like Wiggins did at the right time.

Every player has their upside and downside Elwood. Wiggins is courageous but can't play, Houla can play but isn't as courageous. Who is going to have a better career?

Look, I know it's not really a valid excuse.

But in my view he was "called out" of the contest by Franklin. (Thinking that it was a Carlton player)

Don't think it was a lack of courage on Houla part. Just poor judgment.

Some may say that he should still have made a contest regardless. (And you maybe right?)

Would hate to see Houla at another club however. Just has too much talent.

Houla makes Trevor Keogh look like Mike Tyson.

Seriously, players are deficient in one or at our club many areas, and the fact that Houla has become a turnover king leads us into another of his defieciencies - a pet hate of many.

The thing we want to see from Houla is some physicality. Not bucketloads but some. No expectation that he should be our enforcer but some body on body, some hard running until he almost busts a gut.

COURAGE comes in different forms.

How do you think Houla gets so much of the ball? Does the pill just magically come to him? Of course he runs hard.

Have a closer look at it. Lance is not even looking at Houla. He was looking at the UMPIRE & that's who he was telling off (for paying that non mark).

Yep, that is correct, had a few looks at the incident today and Lance was remonstrating with the umpire.
