IF what Daniel Harford has said is true, then I agree with him about Matty Lappin.

If the club withdrew its contract offer to him that was already agreed on by all parties, and it was a two-year deal, then I'm on Lappin's side here.

Hows do you withdraw a contract that has already been signed off on Nero????

Look the standard contract offers are... if its offered and you dont take it you go to the back of the pile.
If Matty ummmmmed and ahhhhhhhhhed about it for weeks and now its been withdrawn and he is upset Matty should think better than refusing to sign and holding the club to ransom next time his offer is tabled...

Thats how it is in 2005 .. they better get used to it.

Just because it was agreed on doesn't mean it was signed off on!

Nero... now listen.. i dont need to explain this to you more than once.
the club is not giving Lappin a three year contract..I swear to you it isnt and it wont.
It will give a player from outside a longer contract if they feel that player can help turn this club around long term but not to a 30 year old player....

How is it agreed on when Lappin wants 3 years still??? :?

Are you paying attention????

nothing too controversial in that article allthough I've got no doubt the author would've "juiced" it up as much as he could to make it controversial

From the HS article:

Quote:
Carlton last night made it clear Lappin had at no stage agreed to a deal, only to have it withdrawn.

Former Blue Daniel Harford, who on the weekend slammed the club's treatment of Lappin, yesterday stressed there was never an offer ready to sign on the table.

In an interview on Triple M on Saturday night, Harford said he was astonished a deal was taken off the table. Harford said he thought Lappin would not be at the club next season.

Malouf yesterday contacted Harford.

"He's advised us the comments were misconstrued," Malouf said.

"He is not in any position to know exactly what is going on.

"Matthew is upset about the article.

"Our conversations and negotiations with him (Lappin) will remain confidential.

"It's disappointing to see that sort of information in a public forum.

"It's normal negotiation and argy-bargy – you may stop and start."
