Kosi has signed up with Saints how no idea as they must really be stretched on there salary cap... Something has too give in there list .... Also i hope someone investigates there list like we where investigated

Also Blues have offered Lance 12 month deal worth $300K and management will take this offer else where and will come back to Blues end of the season to allow Blues final counter offer

Kossy and Max Hudgton have signed 2 year deals each. Pretty short for Kossy to be honest.
Gehrig is still unsigned. Peckett, Harvey and Thommo all might be retiring at the end of the year so that might have allowed them to up there offers to Kossy.
1 thing is for certain the Saints will not be trading for anyone for a few years at least.
Ball will be out of contract next year. Same war will happen then I would say. Something will give eventually. I doubt there young guns will leave but it is going to be hard to keep there second tier players.

I'm glad we didn't sign him for $3mill over 5 years. Too much imo.
Nothing more than 3 year deals should be offered.

Perfect example of a player putting his wallet before his club if fact.

If Whitnall wants to play for the one club his whole career then why would he not accept this deal? He has taken easy money the past 4 years, time to pay some of it back with a reduced contract and better performances.

I think it's more likely that someone will investigate their list like Essendon* were investigated...

No club will ever suffer penalties like ours. Especially St Kilda. It would equal instant vapourisation of a football club.

Hmmmm, maybe I'll become a private investigator

Mate...no-one's leaving, this year or next year or the year after.

How many times do you need to be proven wrong?

You still have room so its never been tested. You're not going to lose a Kosi or Luke Ball, it'll be a Penny or Clarke.

Good luck to you really if you can keep them all. Common sense says you can't though. Thats the way the Salary Cap works.

If I was St Kilda, I'd happily step over the salary cap for a couple of years in order to win a flag. If you've only won one in a hundred years, no punishment would be so severe as to cancel out the joy in winning flag No.2.

Going over the salary cap's no big deal. Essendon* got caught doing it, Melbourne got caught doing it, we got caught doing it, and that's just the clubs that got busted. I'm pretty sure that most clubs over the years have 'got around' the system at various stages to gain an advantage.

So the saints go over the cap to keep their list intact (a la Brisbane, except they did it with the blessing of the AFL), get sprung (maybe) and lose two years draft picks which (assuming they win the flag) will cost them something like pick 18, 34 and 50. Whoopde-doo.

For them, it'd be worth it.

So the signings begin.
We will not get anyone of value, simple. My concerns about us becoming unattractive to quality players is coming to fruition. You cannot attract "quality" with what we are producing.

Another reasoned and well thought out post

Tell me again when does trading take place?

C'mon Surry - think about it.

So the solution to this problem then is not putting any offers to uncontracted players.

St. Kilda were crap (still are  ) in 2001 when shithead crossed over to them - it didn't stop him taking the money.

Oh yeah thats right he only went because Elliott hurt his feelings. sooky, sooky la la. He must have taught Riewoldt a thing or two then.

IF St. Kilda win a premiership in the next couple of years, I think that's when we'll see some players leaving to chase the bucks.

They won't have the room in the cap that Brisbane had, so it will be harder to keep the team together, unless they all agree to stay for peanuts.

The AFL have made it virtually impossible for any team outside of Brisbane or Sydney to have sustained success.
