So you have sources inside the Club Surrey?

You were party to the Lappin discussions?

Care to elaborate?

From today's Age:

Quote:
Although there is believed to be interest in Whitnall from other clubs, including interstate clubs, it is thought the 25-year-old is likely to be offered another two-year deal by the Blues, albeit at a reduced rate. Last night, Whitnall's manager Ricky Nixon did not want to comment.

Can anyone elaborate on this?

Forget the money..its not healthy for the club or players such as Lance and Campo to continue their association....and maybe even Lappin.
Plenty of mud slinging and innuendo has tainted the relationship between player/admin/coach and has even supporters divided.
I dont see how Lance can continue and get the best out of himself at a club that is divided over his worth and has doubts about his abilities and fitness. If I was Lance I would want out.....if he has offers from other clubs has suggested he should take the best one and move on for the benefit of both parties...

Campo...doesnt have much of a choice but to accept what he gets offered by us..his trade value is minimal and his only hope of a better deal would be at a club on the verge of a flag wanting to gamble on a veteran midfielder to maybe fill a hole on their list..I dont see one..all the decent teams have good midfields...he has to accept the gravy train is over and he has had it good...I year only and in reality I think he should move on if he can.....

Lappin...2 year deal is enough...at his age and with our club in rebuild mode 2 years is fair enough....good player but times have changed..

I applaud Collins for playing it tough....we need strong leadership and the our players need to check out the market place and whats happening at other clubs....Aker on 300K, Brown and Kosi both knocking back mega deals....time our players who have had it so good show some loyalty and accept less and in Lances case move on for the reasons I have discussed earlier...just becaue we have to pay 92.5% of the cap minimum we shouldnt be forced to pay most of it to underperformers or greedy senior players who want to continue further exploitation of a club that is at rock bottom...when we start winning games and getting back up the top players can start talking what they want...till then they need to accept its what the club wants....

See just on this, I'm not necessarily a fan of comparisons between what Aker etc are on and what Lance/Campo etc are on. When you're playing in a successful side on the verge of a flag, like Brisbane have been for the past 4-5 years, it's not all that unusual for a player to accept less in order to achieve more. Aker/Voss etc might have been paid more money elsewhere but they wouldn't have had the same success. You're inclined to accept less when you're around the mark of a flag...so you can say "look, Campo's on 600 and Aker's on 200k" but you can't always be that simplistic.

Carlton haven't been on the verge of a flag the last few seasons so as selfish as it might sound, there isn't all that much of an incentive to take a pay cut or accept less money. Had we been more successful, maybe Campo/Lance etc might have looked at their contracts and taken less in the hope of achieving more, like Kosi etc have done. I'm not saying that it's right or wrong I'm just saying what I think of the whole situation.

No way would Adrian Deluca say anything, or know anything that is going on. I know someone who is friends with Deluca, and I try and find stuff out all the time. The answer I get is that he never knows anything.

Besides he is too professional and punctual to say anything anyway.

I've said it before but I don't want Camporeale at the club next year. And I think that has to include Whitnall, Kouta and maybe even Lappin. I like Skinny but as part of the old culture, they have to go so that we can start afresh.

I think the phrase 'clean slate' doesn't really rank with a lot of people here. It seems we want to cling onto our past. As a historian, I love history and the past, but in order to create history, we have to move away and create a fresh era. Those glory days are over people, it's time to create history not wallow in it.

You see Clem, my 'clean slate' involves a little more than just players. and for that for some reason I am being seen as 'delusional'
