Hello and Welcome to what is now officially the "run home" for Wolfister's Weekly one cent stats for 2005 - and as Wolfister Inc (the big blue office at the bottom end of town) has the day off tomorrow, we're bringing you this week's stats a day early this week. Maybe that extra bit of preparation will be something that can help us get over the line this week!

Carlton and Richmond officially have an historic rivalry - meeting 195 times for 112 wins for the Blues (57.4%) at PM+1425. In our last 5 meetings, we've won 3 (PM-57... that round 7 belting this year really hurt our PM!) and in our last 10 we've won 6 (PM+49... a 73 point win at the end of 2000 helps even up the PM there). We've met the Tiges only once at the Docklands - in Round 13 last year where the Blues survived a late comeback to run out 31 point winners.

The Blues have played in Round 18 88 times for 60 wins (68.2%) at PM+1136. In the last 5 years we've won only 2 starts (PM-72), while in the last 10 years, we've broken even with 5 wins (PM-28). The kicking has come in the last 3 years where we've lost to Collingwood (108 points), Essendon* (34 points) and then last year to Fremantle (48 points). Interestingly that Collingwood thrashing is offset by the hiding we gave them 2 years before that in Round 18 2000, in the famous final suburban meeting where we won by 111 points. Against Richmond however, we've played 6 times in Round 18 for 4 wins (PM+60). The last meeting came way back in 1976 at the MCG where we flogged them to the tune of 83 points. We've never played at the Docklands in Round 18.

July 31 has historically been a good day for the Blueboys, winning 11 of our 13 starts (84.6%) at PM+477. This record would have been better but for last year's 48 point loss to Fremantle on the day - with the only other loss coming back in 1965 against South Melbourne. We've played Richmond twice on July 31, winning both clashes - a 19 point win at home back in 1954, and that 83 point win back in 1976... so yes... here comes the mozz... we have an unbeaten and impeccable record against Richmond in games played in Round 18 on July 31.

Till next week, remember that 72% of statistics believe that Steve Vizard should have stuck with Ernie Dingo's financial advice (cos he was "always in the black")... I wonder if that would have been politically incorrect these days?

Wolf Out!

BOSMAN's 2 Bob Stats...

I reckon we can win this week because of the following reasons,

1. Richmond v St.Kilda... Pissing down rain in the first and Richmond got the early jump on St. Kilda and were up by a 2 goals. The rain stopped at the start of the 2nd and then St.Kilda killed them by kicking 15 goals to 2 for the next 3 qrts.

2. Richmond v Port.. Dry weather game to start of with Port kicking 7 goals to 2 in the first qrt. Then the rain came and Richmond kicked 10 goals to 7 for the next 3 qrts. Hit the front in the last but ran out of puff.

So Richmond have been good in the wet the last 2 weeks but crap when its dry. Since the game is at the dome and the surface is not slippery we could be in with a chance.

Also, these pricks started our rot back in rd 7 and I prey to GOD we get up and snuff out any finals chances they have....
