Be interested to see people's views as we near the end of half a decade.

Here's my lineup. Tell me if I've chosen people who retired before 2000.
FYI, I chose players at the time they were performing at their peak. Some newer players are the added youth we always needed who have shown something. Some of the more senior players hardly had a bad day (except for 2002).

B: Rice Silvagni Teague
HB: Murphy Thornton Walker
C: Camporeale Bradley Stevens
HF: Lappin Whitnall Waite
F: Fisher Fevola Hickmott
R: Allan Ratten Koutoufides

Inter: French Simpson Houlihan Scotland

Captain: Bradley
Vice Captain: Silvagni
Coach: Pagan

How do you think this team would go?
Any glaring omissions?
What would your team of the last 5 years look like?

G'day guys ... been lurking around here for a long time but just joined recently so here's my first post .... :D

umm, where do I start with this list .... some obvious players missed and some very questionable ones included.

Assuming you are selecting players going back to the 2000 season

The team should definitely include:
Andrew McKay (before anyone else as well)
Fraser Brown
Ang Christou
Glenn Manton

And I would have these players ahead of others you selected (based on contributions to the side over the past 5 years)
Simon Beaumont
Darren Hulme
Corey McKernan
Aaron Hamill

Walker, Fisher, Simpson, Houlihan, Scotland haven't done enough to be in that side

But the fact that these names are even mentioned really does go to show the state we've been in the last few years

Andy McKay is the one glaring omission that you mentioned that I would include in a heartbeat, dropping Houla and placing Walker on the bench.

The others I thought were okay but not any better than some of the youth coming through at the moment.

I thought Fraser and Ang played their best football pre 2000 and Glenn Manton was ok but not great.

Well there's been some very lean years recently and when choosing a best side of the last 5 years, it's pretty hard to go past any of our B&F winners considering the lack of quality competition for spots.

Those players definitely played their best footy pre 2000 ... but they still played well and consistently enough to be in the side over some others who've done nothing yet but show some potential

you'd have to keep Houlihan in there, if only because he's played the whole 5 years fairly consistently.

McKay definitely should be there

Hulme probably as well, for longevity.

Franchina? longevity?

I'd say Allan is lucky to get the run. He wouldn't have played a lot of ball for Carlton in that period..... and Corey, for the B&F, should be included in the ruck for Allan.

Murphy's another one who's VERY lucky to make your squad (unless you mean Marc Murphy 8) ) He missed all of 2000 (almost) with injury, then got traded, came back for 2002 and was shit, shit again in 2003, and then got the flick.

I'd have:

B: Franchina Silvagni Teague
HB: McKay Thornton Houlihan
C: Camporeale Bradley Stevens
HF: Lappin Whitnall Waite
F: Fisher Fevola Hickmott
R: McKernan Ratten Koutoufides

Inter: French Walker Hulme Porter
