If we beat Port I think I’ll just stop following football all together due to disenchantment. Why? Because we play Collingwood the week after and only we could be dumb enough to go full speed at that game while they tank and take the priority pick.

If we don’t pick up the priority pick this year the entire board should be removed and Pagan should retire and take his group of recycled duds with him.

Carlton Dog, you're going to have to come up with a new angle, 'cos I agree as well.

I don't take angles so people disagree with me, I just call it as I see it. It's not my fault that it's taken the droves of sheep 3 years to realise it.

As much as I love this winning feeling, I believe that losing the PP will be disasterous for the future. I also think the next 3 games are winnable because Port are a shattered team now that they won't make the finals, Collingwood are just plain crap and the Bombers are over achieving atm.

Dannyboy Murph is most likely to stay in Melb if we get last possie ...The indicators are still strong that he dosnt want to leave Melbourne unless he is not happy with the team coming last. i say Most as it is not 100% but more likely than going up North.

Also if something goes wrong with Whits contract i dont want to see whits walk over to the Hawks for nothing in the PSD and do what Stevo did with Port.. Not likely to happen but you wouldnt want to be in a position like that

Lets just hope the Hawks win another game so we can end the year beating either the Bombers or the Kangas.

Just on Whitnall, I thought he played well again today. Can we really afford to be trading him away? Unless we're trading for a Key Defender or have a definite target for the PSD I don't think we can. Its not that Whitnall is a great CHB, but we're short even with Thornton and Livo both playing. If one of them goes down we're rooted as was shown earlier this season.

There's a couple of sceanrios here. It's not all doom and gloom to win games this late. No matter what happens we are going to get high picks, even if we win some games and get off the bottom. The PP isn't the saviour and solution to all our problems. Besides other lower clubs can win as well and it all becomes relative - we still may end up on the bottom, get first pick but not PP. Who knows? We should always try and win because that is what you are supposed to do when you field a team

I don't believe in tanking. It is never good to flirt with form. There are a litany of problems in that attitude. such as team morale, sponsors who want to be with winners as well as members who want to be with winners.

It is obvious that the draft system is flawed but that is another discussion for another time - in that it rewards failure.

Let's beat Port. Let's beat Collingwood. Do it because we can and we want to, because that is what you're supposed to do.

I also think for a myriad of reasons, I believe we are not the worst list in the AFL. We have underachieved this year, so if I am correct and we do get a PP, we could have a much improved year next year.

Paradoxically though, a PP, if it is earnt when all is tried but failed is not bad either.

GO BLUES

I don't believe we'll beat Port, becuase Tredrea will do to us what Pavlich did two weeks ago. As well as Livo has been travelling, he hasn't got the burst of speed to keep up with Tredders, nor has anyone else we will play on him.

I think our real chances lie with the Pies and the Bummers.

Oh yeah, win the next three games and cock-up a free hit at the best junior player in the country ?????

I prefer winning too but look at the big picture, we are seriously that far off the pace we need all the freebies that the AFL want to throw at us. Whilst getting a PP will not do anything dramatic to our onfield performances next year, it should though in the years after that.

Whilst pride & intention are nice things to play for, we cannot get carried away with a handful of wins at the end of the season that do nothing for us overall. Blood the kids, throw them in the deep end and give them some develop time. It should ensure that we get our much needed PP and the future still looks good with the potential of the young guys at the club.

I know it sucks to have this sort of mentality but it is the only way to get the players we need to force us back to the top.

The AFL built this new system to bring us down, let's use it to full advantage and make them pay for it in the long term !!

Lance isn't suited to the MCG and Tredrea and their rucks will give their onballers an armchair ride out of the middle.

They are a big team unlike the Tigers with real pace and they can always bring in a Norm Smith Medallist!

You know - first time I've thought of it that way, and it is a good point, Sheik... but I just can't come round to not wanting these last games! Suburban Brisbane was ringing to the sounds of the song this afternoon (after I realised with 10 to go that NIRS were covering the game, not the Magpies v Dockers) - and that elation made me remember to join up my 9 day old daughter this evening.... She's not even on my Medibank membership yet.....

It's great being in the winning camp again! I hope we squish the power and laugh at Ch 10 showing a "finals qualifier" where one team ain't making it.... Let's just control Byron, and the game can be the same type as earlier this year!

Note to Robert Walls...

Give Tredrea a blasting in the Age.
