I think this weekend highlighted the value of low draft picks/priority picks, and the importance of getting the benefit of them.

Look at Geelong - talented team, but absolutely no one to stand up and win the game for them when it counts - why? Because they are even all over the ground with no super stars

Look at Richmond - down the bottom for one measly year, get the picks, thinks they're making the finals, then end up losing to us who have been thrashed by just about everyone. In all reality, Richmond will almost certainly finish down the bottom again next year

Look at Bulldogs - down the bottom for several years, topped up with draft picks and priority picks over several years and look at the talent they have assembled. They have some amazing players, and some guys that will be absolute superstars

Today was great, it was fantastic to feel that winning feeling again, but let's not kid ourselves, we beat an ordinary side. We're not that great, we can't/won't play like this every week and more imporantly, our best is MILES off the pace setters in the competition.

We need the priority picks this year (and next year in all reality). We need to add more talent to the what we have. Then we'll have many victories to enjoy, and we won't be waiting 11 weeks in between for them either

Earlier in the year when Geelong was doing very well the excuse was, well they do have two F/S that would have been very high draft picks (add Ottens who was pick no 2).

Now when they are not doing so well, they have no stars, and their evenness and lack of high draft picks is a curse.

They do have two great father sons, and that has helped them advance up the ladder. But it's a bit hard to turn a game when you're lining up at full back isn't it? Which means the opposition only have to focus on Ablett.

Geelong are a great example - their father sons are better than ours and they haven't had priority picks. I don't see them winning a premiership anytime soon. If we don't take opportunity of where we are at, we will become a Geelong at best.

And then it will be 20 years since our last premiership and we'll be a Richmond.

Someone might have said this earlier (I haven't read every post) but I have to say that pursuing pick number 1 is a good idea.

I was firmly behind the win all games possible camp... but have changed my mind after watching the Bulldogs vs Brisbane game on Saturday night.
To see how good Cooney is ... and to compare him to pick number 2 (our Andrew Walker) is to compare two players of vastly different capabilities.
Andrew Walker is a great player - no doubt.

But I haven't seen him win a game off his own boot - yet on the weekend I saw Cooney carve up the Brisbane midfield and win at least 5 or 6 centre square clearances in a row in the last quarter. That is a remarkable stat.

Play for draft picks... i have been convinced.

By the way, can anyone remember who went at number 3 in last year's draft?

Ryan Griffen from the Bulldogs was pick #3.

They have no idea what's about to f*cking hit them.

MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Boy have I had some fun today.

The fear in their eyes - they've never seen anything like it.
