look there is merit in the benefit of 1st draft pick.

no doubt in that one second.

but i want to win every game we ever play, dont care who it is against.

wanting to lose, is just something i cant fathom, and am constantly amazed at how many people on this very board are so open to losing and getting.

What happens if all three of those teams win more than 5 games and none get a PP?

Is it suddenly wrist cutting time that we only get pick 3 if we finish higher than the filth and dawks?

The club should try and win as many games as it can, if we finish last, then so be it, but no club should ever lose in the hope of getting draft picks, no club, and certainly not a club i follow.

We benefitted massively from the Bulldogs being retarded in 2003, and taking Rawlings. Imagine if they used their brains though and took Stevens, we would have wound up with Rawlings. No comparison.

Stevens is a quality midfielder, but we are not exactly short of those types, who are under 23, in our side. Structurally Rawlings was a much better fit for us. But when you have lunatics running the asylum, you would not bother to conduct a physical examination of a high profile recruit with suspect knees

You think that was dumb (and it was), try giving pick 19 to Freo for Koops, with Freo picking up David Mundy

Can't you just let us enjoy our recent run of good form without reminding us of the horror of Dumb (Newport) and Dumber (Rohde). At least their trail of incompetence got us the likes of Cooney and Griffen, but with the barest hint of foresight and intelligence, 2003 could also have gotten us Kepler Bradley and David Mundy

If we win 2 more games this year, it will be almost as bad as Black Friday.

Black Friday: Lost: Picks 1 & 2, kept pick 18 (traded for Barnaby French)

If things go according to Marci's setup: Lost: Pick 1 & 3, kept pick 5.

Once again we'll have been denied two Top 3 picks. And pick 5 in a weak draft is quite probably not much better than pick 18.

These really are some terrifying numbers.

Not bottoming out this year is truly the worst possible scenario imaginable for this club, and it will ensure we stay down for a long, long, time.

Cyclonus, you are not thinking straight, winning our next 4 games will ensure that the season 2005 goes down in Carlton History as one of our great seasons and restored our pride and our winning culture.

It will mean we will once again be remembered for the great side we are.

"ThePrez" has convinced me - I'm on the lets win the next 4 games bandwagon.

After enduring just on 3 months of absymal performances the last thing we need is to find form and win games in the last 4 rounds. No the horse has bolted we are in PP territory and we need to collect.

If this was Rd 12 fair enough win at all costs but at Rd 18 why would you considering the magnitude of the losses we have had to endure.

2004 we busted a gut to win each and every game (i admit l was stoked with the spirit shown compared to the 2002 & 2003 years) with arguably the worst list or the equal of the Tiges, Hawks and Dogs. What happened they collected and we didn't. F*** it it is our turn!

We need to be competitive in every game. Just not to win more than 1 game.
Hit the post 10 times a game. Kick 10 goals 25 points. Free kick count way against us. Things like that.
I dont want to see us drop away but to keep playing decent football like we did on the weekend. Competitive football.

Not saying it was well done to talent spot either of those players. Even Judkins or Kleiman might have gotten those picks right (then again, probably not). My point was that having the village idiot coach us to successive botton 3 finishes allowed us to pick up these quality players in the draft.

How can one possibly argue against the Mother-of-All-Analogies from the Prez: "Let's not get draft picks 1 & 3.... in case they die the next day".

BRILLIANT!!! GENIUS!!!!

Any seats left on that bandwagon??...I'm willing to sit on someone's lap if there isn't!! :P

Sedat, the Bulldogs story of draft misses and mistakes reads like a fairy tale compared to the decade long book of horrors at Carlton.

Besides the fact the you guys needed a KP player, I think you really had no choice but to pick Jade following the famous trade week manoeuvring of the "Veale deal" whereby your pick 6 was essentially traded for Lachlan Veale (since delisted) for the sole objective to push Jade into the PSD. It would've created a massive stir had you then not selected Jade in the PSD

That is crap. One pick will not make this club what it once was. Murphy, Ellis, Hurn, whoever we pick we not fix the problem. it was our picks in the 1990s that got us we we are today, not Black Friday. Even im old enough to remember that.

It will be just about worse than Black Friday - at least then we could blame the AFL for taking the picks off us.

This time we would only have ourselves to blame.

I will be absolutely devastated if after enduring the season that we have had, we strip ourselves of the only compensation available to us.

And meaningless wins against injury riddled cellar dwelling teams will not make me feel one little bit better.

Nobody's disagreeing with this. But while the pick is there correct we want to LOSE. Yeah blah blah it's a shame we'll lose to the Filth and the Scum if we do, yeah yeah Murphy might end up being nothing...but I'd rather have two top 3 picks than one top 5 one

Im not going to get into an argument here. All im going to say is that I reckon it is pretty un-Carlton like of you for you not wanting to beat the Scum and filfth for a pick in the draft.

We are DEFIANTELY going to get a bottom 3 pick, were not good enough to win more than 3 games for the rest of the but I still want to be Port, Scum and Filth before the year is out (especialy port as im a Adelaidian and all I here is port this, crows that and it will be good to beat one of them).
