Synbad, you know as well as I do that part of the reason for the delay have been Collos health and fall and that Dennis has been away.
Agree the club will not move from the two year offers and that is sound, never been a fan of the long contract. Advocated two year contracts earlier this year.
At this point in time the odds are good that all three will stay and as they have themselves admitted for less money. But as we know "footy is a funny game' and anything can happen.
So the contracts could not have been done prior and they all waited till 3 weeks before trade time to do them???
and everybody else is all signed up .. even Deluca???
Yeah... ok...
Sounds like logic
Does not make sense to me. The club signed up 3 players only a few weeks ago. Meanwhile these 3 have been an ongoing saga for 3 or 4 months now.
Either the club is not interested in retaining them or they want out and are asking for to much.
Three senior players with very complicated previous contracts, lots of i's to be dotted and t's to be crossed not simple ones like a Livingston or a De Luca and not everybody else is signed up.
Give you a personal example. The more junior staff at work spent about 15 minutes with management for thier new contracts, mine as a senior worker took a while longer as a fair bit more had to be covered. I was never going to leave but some issues did have to be sorted out and ratifications sought. Thus it took about a week. Actually it was all very civil.
Livo, Waite and Walker were signed 3 months ago.
Then we started with all the Whitnall, Campo and Lappin stuff. Plenty of comments from Collo. F to Z grade stuff and players should not hold off on signing new contracts. So on and so on.
Harford saying a few outspoken words on the handling of new contracts.
The season rolls on with plenty of sepecualtion. Then 2 weeks ago Deluca, Carrazzo and Scotland sign on.
Still nothing on these 3 blokes. Collo in hospital with heart surgery. Then for a leg injury but they still signed off on Deluca etc.
I like your analogy about you being a senior worker compared to 'junior workers'. How does that fit in with signing Waite, Fevola, Walker and Scotland who would all be considered more valuable than Lappin and Campo at this stage.
The club has signed there prorities. They have left the 3 they are prepared to deal if they dont accept smaller offers. Maybe the players want to leave. I dont know.
Look at Essendon* 2 weeks ago Welsh wanted 300k and Johnson 340k.
Mark Johnson was signed up a week later for that money and Welsh was signed also. Did not take Essendon* long to come to the party. They want them at the club for the future so they signed them up.
