Gee, it is a real concern when Pagan comes out and says that Carlton is in a worse position than when he was here.
HUN today saying that Carlton will only trade Yarran if a really good deal is on offer, mentions that the club would be prepared to lose him next season as a free agent because we will finish bottom 6 anyway and will get a "Frawley" type compensation from the AFL.
Paper also says that the club is privately preparing to losing Henderson to Geelong.
Privately preparing? Lachie was told in April that he was being shipped off for draft picks and to find himself a suitable home.
Is that right?
There have been conflicting stories regarding Henderson. Some saying he was shopping himself around during the pre season, others saying he wants to stay but the club has told him he will be moved on.
Others have suggested the club has put a contract in front of him but it is not enough.
Don't know what to believe but if the club told him that in April then we have completely lost the plot.
Putting a contract to someone when you know it is significantly less than fair value = forcing them to leave.
Telling someone you're not a priority to keep must do wonders for their performance. Lachie is playing like someone who has been told he will be traded if they get a first rounder.
*waiting for psych to respond with some conflicting report*
hey Em, you always seem like you have the good mail, but geez i hope you're wrong in this. he aint playing like he wants to be here, but surely Sos is smarter than that, talls don't grow on trees, i really don't want to lose him.
he needs to play in the backline to replace Jamo or Rowe, who arent the future
The club are publicly portraying it as Lachie wanting to leave because we all know how stupid it is to be the one forcing him to leave. Hence SOS's comments at that presser a few weeks back that discussions were going well.
At the beginning of the year Norf approached Lachie's management and were told Lachie wanted to stay at Carlton and would only be dealing with Carlton.
It is only since the club informed Lachie that they would be looking to trade him for a first rounder has his management been seeking a trade - Lachie would still like to stay but I feel the longer this goes the more we burn him and we'll end up making him want to leave.
It is very much the plan that they will look to trade him for a first and if no offers are suitable they think they'll just be able to sign him midway through the trade period. Which I think is hilarious and would encourage Lachie to leave - that is no way to treat your players. Loyalty is a two way street.
