WHY DIDN'T THE CLUB TRADE LANCE WHEN THEY HAD THE CHANCE!!!!!

I could not agree more.

"IF" this story is true, we have absolutely nothing to be "fuming" about.

We knew what he was like. We knew what his motivation was at the end of last year. We knew he wouldn't have the same motivation this year. And we still re-signed him

The club is not entitled to complain about a thing.

How do you interpret that? All I have read are comments from happy supporters and comments from people with foresight. Success, recognition and money can propel a sport no end. I think that's basically all that has been written in this thread. You obviously have a small dick.

I'm with you guys. The club made their bed, now they can lie in it. Absolute suckers!

Totally agree. One line in the Sheahan article sums it up for me, and echoes what Effes, Synbad and I have been saying:

Quote:
Third, he would not have dared turn up 8kg overweight had Melbourne successfully negotiated his release from Optus Oval a month ago.

Of course he wouldn't want to leave Carlton, he'd have to prove himself and actually do something elsewhere. No wonder he was so desperate to remove any performance clauses

What message does it send to other players especially younger ones..what is Marc Murphy thinking..its ok to get out in the fat paddock and come to training in a less than perfect condition? ..and get away with it.?
How will be ever improve when we continue to accept this ...I dont care if its Lance, Stevens, Eddie Betts....no one should come back porky..not if you are a real pro footballer. Ok if you win the flag celebrate and fine if you comeback a tad over but we are at the opposite end of the spectrum....last on the list and trying to rebuild the club...that rebuilding includes being the best we can whcih includes fitness...of all players Lance should be presenting at good weight considering he is a serial offender.
While we put up this we wont be any good...when the other teams are running us off the park dont complain...
I would have had it in his contract....you have to get fit and stay fit....Lance is our Mark Cosgrove...even the SA cricket association had the balls to tell Cosgrove to get fit or be a spectator...its still a holiday camp at Carlton Football Club....just call us the Club Med Blues......

179 games in 9 seasons................let's think about that................

That's damn close to 20 games per year EVERY year since debut at 17. Not only that, he has been in our best 6 players EVERY year since debut.

Take out a couple of games through injury, some attributed to weight, some just bad luck, some stupidety.

Find me a player from any other team that has performed to this level at all, let alone do it in the worst team over the last 5 years.

Can anyone argue that Lance hasn't been our best player from 2001-2005?

Give the poor bastard the benefit of the doubt. If he's already shed half the weight it's obviously a bit of fluid that any diuretic pill could fix  .

Seriously, some on this site and in the media are just busting their arse to find another Lance story to fill in their afternoon,

GET OVER IT!!

C'mon guys, get real.

How many AFL players actually turn up to pre-season training exactly on their playing weight and with perfect skin-fold tests?

If Lance doesn't produce on the field when it counts, then I'll start to question his commitment. But for now, let him get on with training and getting himself into the correct condition.

He mightn't get on the field if he suffers an injury because he is out of condition.

could get hit by a bus

I heard a meteorite just missed Frenchy the other day

and an old lady hit Davies over the head with her handbag

and a rabid dog almost bit Tex.

and

and

and

fancy Lancey pantsy knows where he is at

the club knows where he is at

the rest of us are just playing with our keyboards.

I think 2-3kg over is fair enough but 8-9kg is just not good enough for a so called professional athlete who is meant to be on 400K. Not sure how anyone can stick up for fatboy. He should know better than turn up to pre season a BLUBBERing mess.

Sheahan?

Can anyone name me the last time Sheahan said anything remotely true in regards to Carlton?

This is the guy that said Waite was out with a knee injury during pre-season 2004 (from memory) when he had a cam walker around his friggin' foot.

Sheahan has not written anything vaguely informative in over ten years.

This is f*cked. THE ONLY SOURCE WE HAVE FOR LANCE BEING 8KG'S OVER IS THE HERALD F*CKING SUN!!!!

It's f*cking November, when he goes off at quarter time of the forst wiz cup game hyperventilating then declare open season.

Ch10 Sport are about to run a story about Lance's battle with the weight on their news. I'll let you know if there is anything of use in it.
