I still believe in Bolton but it's now abundantly clear that he's gone too early with the new game plan... clearly he's succumbed to external pressures but players have NFI what they're doing out there.
With the loss of Doc, no Gibbs and plenty of youngsters out there, one more year of defensive structures would've been far more beneficial for this group.
Yes hindsight has 20/20 vision and wtf do we know as supporters and all that... but wtf are they doing up in the coaches box?
i think this is key.
If anything we went too early with the offensive game plan ... we arent capable yet, in body and mind, especially with our defence in the state that it is in at the moment.
Docherty is proving to be a bigger loss than antcipated and simply can not be replaced
Marchbank is a huge loss for a month
Rowe/ASOS are big losses
Williamson run of the defence is a big loss
Weitering (i still have faith) is down on confidence
Jones (i think he can still play the role he players last year - but only when we have everything in place)
Simpson (through no fault of his own is not the player he was - thats just age getting the better of him)
Plowman (who looks injured) is the only one i can think of that is playing ok defensively.
Ive always said it stems from Defence. If you have a solid defence, which we do when they are all up running, we are a vastly different side!
We still have a huge holes everywhere. Our defence is decimated, our midfield (no murphy/no gibbs) and our forward line has been a shambles since we lost fevola/betts/waite and co ...
Yeah, we got alot of shit to fix.
I dont think its Bolton fault, by any stretch of the imagintation,
we are very young, even younger yesterday with the injuries to our senior players ...
we have very little talent from the 23-30 age group, none of which are leaders IMO
i actually think, the only way forward is to play as many youngters as we can (as long as they arent going to break down due to their bodies not being ready) ... and forget the win/loss
lets see what we have our youth.
I see zero point in playing the likes of Lamb/Graeme/THomas/Kerridge and co .... not that they arent good enough for our bottom 6 players, but becuase we know they are nothing more than that. We dont know what we have yet in some of our kids.
Id play McKay/O'brien and co for the rest of the year (pending no issue with body) with a total team defence the goal, just to see what we have ... and then make a call ...
