You people are obviously blinded like my poor friend CR.

We were a Superpower.
We are currently nothing short of an amatuer side at best.
That doesn't mean I don't bleed blue

That doesn't mean unlike you who wished us to lose last year that I agreed with you

BUT

if anyone saw anything remotely real and positive in Saturday night's game they ought to go out and drink like that more often.

We aint great
We aint good
We are terrible
and
it's partially due to other circumstances

but it's largely due to the fact that we have 15 guys on our list that wouldn't get games with other clubs,
The players we lost have fallen by the wayside - murphy allan etc. or just aren't up to it - Karl

We might have recruited something special this year. Time will tell but don't write stuff like they are doing well when clearly they aren't.

They are trying - I'll give you all that coz they haven't got anything else to do

Have a real look at the side and realise that most of the guys just can't compete with 14 of the other clubs.

Sure we'll win a few but even when we were great we used to lo0se a few we shouldn't

I think ur right, i will cheer for them foreve, luv them to death, and i dont really care if we lose, just having a consistant game is all we can ask for. We have a great young team, and im looking forward to seeing the boys play regardless of the result.

Just where in my summation am I wrong Bax?
What is there to like about the present?
Forget the words will be in a few years... I'm talking NOW!
What is there to like?
Nothing really

Look you don't need to be Einstein to know we are a bottom team... BUT it was the first pre - season game and we could have won it.

What do you suggest we do.... stay away for a few years? Then come back when we are good?

How many times do people have to mention the obvious..... like Pagan has said " Don't piss in my pocket and tell me it's raining" I know where we are at.

But seeing Murhy, Carlos, Blackers and Hartlett gives me hope for the future. Can't wait to see Kennedy, Bower, Edwards and the rookies in action.....

That's what it's about now.... but there will be lot's of pain in between.

You stick to looking at the negatives........ i'll look at the positives.

Murphy - has skills
Carlos... nuff said,
Blackers....little boy playing a mans game
and Hartlett - Collingwood 6 footer.
Nothing much to get excited about there

Last time I checked Collingwood 6 footers were about 180cm - Hartlett is at least 15cm taller than that. :?

I gathered round and was disapointed to find that this thread was just like a million other threads around here.
Did this really require another thread?

Ok everyone is entitled to there opinion and Shhh i don't fully agree with you on this one or the Houla one also, but hey thats my opinion too and we should be actively expressing it, ( just as you are , freedom of speech )
Now what i would appreciate is the names of the 15 blokes who would not get a game with any other club. And when you do name these players please be kind enough to back it up with something.

An example might be:
Houla - Too Soft no club would want him :? :? ( i of course would disagree because as i have stated before all good clubs have soft players and Houla would get a game elsewhere, namely Essendon*, Collingwood Brisbane, Port Adel, Richmond, Hawthorn, Kangaroos, Sydney prob St Kilda also. Skilled outside players do well in good teams.

Now you might just happen to put Bannister on your list of 15 also. Well he shouldn't really count as he doesn't really get a game with us anyway.

So Shhh maybe you're getting what i'm sayingre the format of back up info.
Hit me with the list mate.... :-D :-D

That's exactly what I'm on about.
People ask where was Livo. Does it really matter?
Where was Chambers, Davies,Longmuir Scotland - (He played and went missing.) Sporn, Wiggo
WOULD any of these guys make a difference to the side.
I know Teague was missing but again how big as difference?

They were missing a guy by the name of Harley.
He would make a huge difference.
None of ours could really take a game.

Yeah but Geelong had their time at the bottom...and they have spent a few years amassing a team .

Were going through that now.

Its important to not get impatient and yes we need more good players..and they will come.

What is more important is harnassing that talent that is coming into the club... getting rid of the ball and chains around our ankles.. and the club makes as many right choices as possible and not to get sucked into thinking about each game.. but on how we can improve as a club both off and on the field each year.

I dont care if the players arent world beaters right now.. but we must leave no stone unturned to build proper platforms into the future.. so that this stint at the bottom does not amount to nothing...!!!!

We need this stint as cellar dwellers to count as a major stepping stone into us being a great side/ club again...!!!!

That means we begin to think abit laterally...

Which means being patient with the O'hAilpins, and giving as much opportunity to:

- Waite
- Simpson
- Fisher
- Walker
- Russell
- Hartlett
- Murphy
- Kennedy
- Bower
- Edwards

as we can. Unfortunately it may mean a few more hidings, which is why the MC seem to be focussed on negative football, which they believe will minimize the floggins and not harm the development of the kids - but as you are saying players like Walker need a few opportunities to be let loose otherwise their development will suffocate.

Well Shhh i can appreciate your response and your concerns, but there are a few blokes that are on our list you shouldn't quite give up on who might ( and it is a might , be worthy risks for other clubs)

Each AFL list has squad players , blokes who don't really get games or game time but are still on AFL lists. I think that saying we have 15 might be a little extreme but we do probably have a few more than the better sides have.

Things will change they slowly are. The young guys on our list are exciting and they will develop together, and the squad players will drop off.
Remember it is about balancing our needs and addressing one problem at a time. Money helps too.

We are building again and being in a contruction zone means that things can be hazardess. Slowly slowly is the way the club is going. IMO the mistake was made early on when we chose to recruit too many recycles, we didn't need so many, and as a result we held back our progress.

I think you might be pleasantly surprised come seasons end 2006 when we do split the list and go hard for quality youth . But it should of been done earlier.

Anyway deep down we should be honest and accept that we are on the improve and anyone expecting miracles is a fool, but those surprised by miracles have faith.

I'll close by saying have faith mate.

:-D :-D

I am at last happy. It looks like its now proven that I know nothing about football.

I awoke on Sunday happy with the performance ona few levels, mostly about young players coming through, promise shown by a number of players, happy the team selection was giving the kids a go and players like wiggo and sporn (try as hard as they might) not being selected, staying close to a good team, confused about our decision making in midfield but happy we had multiple options, joyful that our ball movement has changed and we're only a week in to the pre-season . I was thinking 'Imagine how good it would have been if Russell had have been given a game, if Deluca had taken 80% of marks rather than 60% and if we could learn abit more in future competitive games (after all this was our first for the year) about taking the ball from the midfield to full forward)!!!

But its time to take off the foggy, upside, blue coloured glasses.

I know nothing!
