If Kouta agreed to his manger's insults....no this couldn't be happening...
Quote:
"If Kouta agreed to his manager going to the press on this one it is not good. He should resign the captaincy. "
Speculation, inquisitive minds, possibilities, and probabilities....but if the unimaginable had happened then ...I can't believe I'm saying this...so be it, I agree ....after more discussion perhaps...I haven't thought this through....maybe it will set a bad example to the football commun
Kouta has enjoyed the security of tenure with Carlton Football Club over a a 13 year period , a luxury many in the workforce could not contemplate. He has served his employer well between 1995 to 2000 and in 2005. Premiership player, Grand Finalist, Player of the year, incredibly athletic footballer.
Kouta has given the CFC exemplary good service, as a player and as a Captain. As the face of Carlton he provides the club with a clean image which helps to counter the tarnished image from 2002. He's perceived as ' a really nice guy". He has also won a Best and Fairest. He has also led a team to a wooden spoon.
His service to the club over the last 5 years has been exemplary, mostly off the field though. I guess that half of his salary was for his marketability as the face of Carlton and the other half was for results on the field.
There is no doubt he has served Carlton well in the marketability stakes and given Carlton a squeaky clean record, and he has been paid for this service.
On the otherhand Carlton have stuggled on the field under his leadership, memberships have been hard to attract, questioning the power of his marketability, but the club has continued to commit to their part of the arrangement and paid his handsome salary accordingly (and Allison's commission...vomit!!).
The Kouta -Carlton relationship has been good for Kouta and good for Carlton, but mostly good for me. I don't know how I would have coped in the last 5 years not having him in the team or knowing that he will be returning from injury one day to help Carlton win a game. He's one of the all time favourites in Carlton, but for the whole football community, and that we're all proud of.
I know there is a lot left in this giant of a man, and he will continue to have something to offer this club for this season and the next.
What I would like to say to him is...
"Carlton has always done the right thing by you. They have made you marketable, and made you and your family a lot of money, and therefore you should reciprocate by playing like a giant of a man this year, leading this club like a ferocious leader, as you have never done before, and give this club a never say die image on and off the field and leave the 'nice and meek' one at home".
"The money you have been paid over the last 5 years has been such that Carlton has and will pay you in full, but I feel you have repaid Carlton only half over the last 5 years. The most important half...and that is on the field. You know that you haven't produced on the field what you have been paid to do. Injury from onfield sacrifices probably contributed to this. But to allow your Manager, Allison, to represent you as he has in the media recently with his antagonistic anti Carlton comments, is to allow comments to be made that are to the football club's detriment, and this goes against the spirit in which you have been employed as the Ambassador of Carlton".
Kouta should play on next year...and because of his below par impact on the field over the last 5 years, and for the damage his manager has done to this club, and he can thank his manager for the reason I believe:
Kouta owes Carltonians
THE EMPIRE WILL STRIKE BACK!! and I hope you enjoy the ride wuth us Kouta.
PS: you can leave your manager at the door
PSS: put a leash on him
PSSS: oh yes, and a muzzle
