There was no Dockland Stadium in site when Carlton started building the Legends Stand - which was originally planned at increasing the seated capacity of Princes Park to 45,000.
A three stadium town MCG, Waverley (with St. Kilda and Hawthorn sharing out there) and Princes Park was a perfectly good business model.
Graeme Samuel through his contacts on the State Government and the City Council wrecked the original vision of the project to ensure his pet project at Docklands wouldn't fail.
