I tend to agree with Fatprick - it is a rediculous position we're in. We borrow money to sack a coach we appointed 12 months ago - stupid.
The only way we could work it is if the pussies take his contract for the last 2 years and we appoint a proper coach through the correct process - not just the cheap VFL option because he reckons he can do it.
What if Mitchell takes the Bullants out in straight sets this weekend? where will everyone sit if that happens??
Wrong on both counts.
We have to pay Pagan anyway whether he coached us or not so our net loss is the payrise we give Mitchell. Membership and match day revenue will increase markedly, more than covering Pagan's payout. Remember we lost 5000 members this year, which equates probably to Pagan's payout. We can't afford to keep going as we are.You learn in life that Patrick Smith is an idiot. Knows everything but in reality, knows nothing!!
As for Mitchell, he gets the best out of the Bullants on match day. Most of the Bullants players are Carlton listed, coached by Pagan mid-week all year, as well as he time they are in the seniors.
I think you'll find the contract SHOULD have a clause saying that if he were to get a similar job with similar conditions the contract can be taken over by another party. If we didn't write that in, we're IDIOTS!!
He can step out of the game for two years as Blighty did and watch the footy on TV from the Cairns pro shop and receive $1m per annum, if he were to have taken a coaching position with, say, Carlton he could not double dip - I think

.
As for Mitchell - he's shown nothing but how to retain ex AFL players. Most of the quaality every week are either ex players or players who can't make the AFL team. If we had 4 18/19 yo in the best every week, I'd agree.
