Furthermore, the club would be able to guarantee interstate members that they will see the Blues live in their specific state every year (apart from NSW) which should assist with patronage & potential memberships for the future.
Why screw us over on this, Sheik?
Yeah, I can see that a country town with a few people is more important than the biggest and most diverse City in the country, with the largest (IMO) Carlton support in the country.
Just doesn't make sense.
Kappy, we have to play 11 games as the home team & 11 games as the away team. Why then is it that we would be getting screwed over ??
Under my proposal, we would have 5 blockbuster games (assuming they are all marketed & worked on to get a full house each time) every year that we can get some decent $$$ for. The fact that some of them get played interstate is irrelevant, we can 'get into bed' with the other clubs to make those fixtures work for an agreed percentage of the gate. If the Pies & the Bombers can split the takings equitably for Anzac Day then what is to stop us doing it evenly with the three interstate clubs ??
We have solid support in both Perth & Adelaide so we would be virtually guarenteeing that our people would ensure a full house at both venues. A new rivalry can be established in QLD with constant yearly marketing of the game there.
I really fail to see how the club is getting bent over in this proposal. If travelling interstate three times every season is the reason then there's only one we need to remember - welcome to the national league.
