Synbad,
I know that GS is as boring as bat shit. I aslo know that others think so too. GS is a hard nosed, uncompromising business man, always wanting the best outcome for his position.
IF the opportunity arises for him to attempt to win in a negotiation then he will pursue this to the end of the earth.
We can only hope that over the coming months that these opportunities arise and that he applies himself in the best manner that he knows how.
He is never going to win a personality contest, but he does know the value of $. Knowing what I do of him, I can't believe that he would ever totally lose in a negotiation, purely because of his single minded focus on $.
He will not pursue a position which results in a definite $ loss situation without significant guaranteed upside.

Ockham, I think you make some good points here about GS. He is an astute businessman who is presumably well connected in corporate land. From a financial point of view, he is definitely not the worst person to be in charge.
However, to use your words, he's as boring as bat shit. Surely there is someone at the club (or at least close to the club) with some passion and personality who can act as the mouthpiece and sell the club in a positive light.
You'd have to assume that there won't be any massive boardroom shake-ups (which is disappointing in my view) At the very least the club could do something about the way they are portrayed to the public.
Managing a Steel business and a football club is very different.
Completely different skills needed. In his business it is really about cost control and logistics. Football club is about people, service and selling passion. He has already shown he cant do this. Look at the way the club
treats SC members - treat them like cattle and the ychoose to leave.
In the service and sports indiustry its all about creativity, service and marketing. Not the areas he knows anythin g about.
