I see most of them haven't given their reasons why. We've had more maybes than nos at this stage.

its nice to see the board in almost full agreement on something :)

AFAIK 10-15% is the 'normal' churn rate for memberships, so the figures on the poll so far are in that range, which is good I suppose.

Have been a member for 30 years, I love my club, and it is the members who keep the club alive.

I will always be a member.

Of course I will join in 2007 and always, as will Mr BluGal.

Why- because we love the club and are proud to be Carlton supporters and couldn't imagine not going to watch them play every week.

Most likely but is extremely pissed off with the club, not because of the wooden spoon but the crap, the Northern Bullants joke in the finals playing the delisted players and not the kids,The Thornton your worth $1 Joke Deal of The Century crap and The Scotland And Fevola crap that the club didn't think was the best and those sick m***ers running the club who have no clue about AFL.

Probably not members in the first place.

I must admit I'm surprised how many are voting that they will not renew. Each to their own I guess.

Its simple, no members means no Carlton!

Doesn't matter who takes over the board, if the members money isn't there, we'll lose sponsorships, players and things just won't change.

Most of those who have said no haven't posted a response probably because they don't want to be attacked.

I'm going on record as not purchasing a membership next year. Quite frankly money is tight and I'd rather use that money elsewhere.

Your right in your figures Jars (plus you forgot to mention that new membership rates are about the same), but you have to understand the membership of TC is more hard core than the norm, so I would suggest that a 10-15% drop as measured here would probably be more in the real world.

If I was running the club, I'd be a bit concerned about membership next year.

If they can have the same membership numbers next year, they would be rapt. I can't see that happening though.

I think were were 5,000 down this year, and I would expect the same (if not more) next year.

Yes, plus baby molsey. To me my disgust / anger at the direction of the Club will just determine how much time I volunteer to the Club - it wont prevent me buying a membership for the 2 of us.

TC is a swilling pool of negative filth at the moment, I'm frankly surprised the figure is as low as the 10-15% range here.

If the club follow through on pushing the youth angle for the rest of the pre-season (which I expect to happen) I expect the membership numbers to be about the same.

There will be some gun new recruits, new board members and the renewed hope a new season brings.

If the club push the youth angle hard next year (ala Hawthorn 2005) the membership will accept that there will not be too many wins but look forward to seeing the young guns develop.

But talking about youth and acting on youth are two different things.

We might be negative.. but thats because were disillusioned with the state of our club.

You really cant expect us to just sit back and accept this rubbish can you???

pushing piss up hill if you think things are going to get better just because we add the word "youth" into our vocab.

Theyre just pathetic...

We need a change....

Where have I said we don't need change? There will be new board members soon.

The supporters of this club acting like headless chooks are also going to cost the club memberships.

There are thousands of people that just read this site without contributing.

They will be pushed away from the club by the insanity that the supporters who post here deliver every flower day.

Of course there are things wrong with the club, but fix them in the background.

IMO the supporters this year have done just as much to damage the brand of the club as the actions of club admin and football department.

It's not you either Synbad, you always make sure to distinguish between the board/coach whatever and the club.

However, lots of people do not make this distinction and put all the negative emotions onto the club itself rather than the people running it.

How many times has someone typed 'Carlton is a rabble'???

That's just a rubbish way to put things for those that say it and everyone that does it is costing us memberships. Those that do it should look in the mirror and take responsibility for your own actions as not only a Carlton supporter but a member of the Carlton supporting community.

10% drop would equate to another 2800 members being lost in 2007.

Let me just say, I haven't voted yet. I will be waiting to see what unfolds over the next two months before deciding my direction. I am not the only on either, there are atleast 5 other members that I know in the same boat. However, I will say this, and most will get on their high horse and shoot me down no doubt, but I would rather not see my club then see it run in this way and is such control by the AFL.

Just saw the membership renewal brochure for 2007 last night and there will be a 'pay by the month' option for those who might find that more convenient. As I said in another post, Brad Fisher is very prominent in some of the photos on the brochure. if he is getting traded there'll be a lot of re-printing needed.
