I'm curious why people think Carazzo is so good. Opposition coaches let him roam free in the backline cause they know that he is not damaging…average player.
Lets agree to disagree.

Carrazzo will play an important role for us for at least the next 2 years; recontract him. Ball magnet or a very good BP who just needs to practise his short passing under pressure.
When he was elevated from the rookie list 2+ years ago, he earned it. He was creative, attacking and a good mark for his size. He was a real find for us, and gave us something satisfying from a dull season.
He is still a ball magnet...and I don't know what you are talking about when you suggest other coaches let him roam free in the backline. If he's playing BP, he has an opponent, and when he's in the midfield, he's tagging someone, and usually does well against them as well as collecting plenty himself. I think the only time you will see him alone in the backline is when he's following the mass flood direction from Pagan; and that aint his doing.
It's his disposal into the forwardline, and in particular his short passes that have let him down; that can be improved...and a couple of lazy shots at goal.
The only good thing about McGrath imo was that he freed up Carrots into the midfield. Now if Carrots gets taken over in the midfield, it wont be because his ball finding skills have left him, but more because of the development of other kids eg maybe Blackwell, Bentick, Jackson....the addition of Gibbs, Walker, Russell, #17 or #19.
But at the very least we have a proven BP player who may be able to not only hold that position, but he may release Russell or Scotland into the midfield, giving us rotation flexibility we badly need.
He's only 23 yo, and playing seniors for 2 years.
